Question about Motorola Mobility Moto Q

1 Answer

I am unable to download photos from my Q9h to my PC using a USB cable. I am operating on XP. I am not able to download the MOTO Q Getting Started Disc even though I have the necessary version of the Adobe program required. I downloaded Microsoft ActiveShare ( size indicated 18.22MB) but I am not able to connect. I used rhe designated cable hookup procedure and different com ports. Could it be that the phone needs to be set special for the downloading function.

You need to install Microsoft Active Sync to your computer to use it. You can download ActiveSync 4.5 from this page
On the right side of that page "Download latest version" this is a free program.
After you have installed the program restart the computer and then plug in your phone.
Then open active sync from your start menu all programs. Once the phone is connected and the active sync shows it as connected, you just click on Explore to view the files inside the phone, you will also be able to get into the phones content by opening my computer or computer from your desktop or from the start menu, it will show up in the bottom part of the window as your PDA or phone.
please let me know if you get stuck or if you need further assistance. I Will respond as soon as possible.

I am not able to copy the pictures from the camera. The pictures can be checked in the camera but does not appear in the laptop when connected through USB port.

for your model of camera there is no driver for xp...the windows xp operation system is not supported..but for vista and windows7 the drivers are already included into the operation system ....
if you have vista or 7 and still unable to see and download teh picks...try to install a photo manager ACDsee (available on net a free download) no 9 and use the import from device feature ...if the files are on the camera memory and not on the card ...just remove the card to be sure that locates the camera memory photos...
by the way ...if you do use a card for this camera and the photos are on it not use the cable ...and remove the card and use a card reader to download them for windows XP..if you do not have one ...try on ebay ..there are a lot of cheap ones ..about 5 bucks...and multi functional...usb based..

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows. Paul Sager 2335 Solutions July 14, 2010 I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q. What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence. This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware. The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.) If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times. My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone. I hope that helps.
