Question about Toshiba NB205-N210 Netbook
More than likely the ballast unit has failed. That is the unit that provides the voltages required to run the back light, have you got a picture on a secondary monitor?. If you haven't then you have video drive problems but I won't go into that side as I expect it is a power problem with the ballast unit.
Browse ebay for a replacement. They are fairly easy to replace as they are situated at the base of the screen and are accessible by removing the rubber bungs that cover the screws on each corner of the screen lid.
