Hi, The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Olympus service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost. Thank you
your dead right the lens is closed when the unit is turned on a small latch pulls away a black sheld that stops light (direct) from damaging the lens these latches fail some times and are real expensive to have fixed
im sorry but i think its time to go looking for a new camera
Usually when you see the lens out and the camera dead it means that a fuse went on the main board inside. What caused the fuse to pop is the question. It may have been that the lens mechanism jammed for instance.
Regardless you would need to send the camera into the shop for repairs. If you are under warrenty then go and send it in. If not then you are probably going to spend less just to buy a new camera.
Hi Greg, Its not on the settings., Here the thing you need to Do
Turn Off the camera, remove the memory card then Turn On the camera and go to auto mode or smart scene., now if yu see black screen check the Lens is yur lens has cover or check if the Lens protracted. Now if the Lens has no cover and protracted thats good it means theres no problem on the lens., Now press Menu Button, If the options did not display it means LCD or screen is already defective. you can also press review button.,
Please call kodak Toll Free 1 800 235 6325 and have your camera repair., GudlucK!
try to take video on Movie mode, if you won't get picture on LCD the CCD is dead. That means you need to replace the whole zoom lens. it costs a lot, not worth to repair.
Does the menu show up on the screen, or is it totally black? Does the camera take pictures and behaves as normal (apart from black screen ;)?
If the menu shows up then I'm afraid it's most probably something serious- like dead CCD or failed shutter (probably the latter-LX2s are not famous for failing CCDs). Failed shutter is easy to identify. You would normally hear a faint mechanical"click" when taking a picture (make sure you disable sounds in your camera). If you can't hear anything then the shutter might be dead. In cases like this I normally suggest getting a donor camera from ebay and replacing the lens (the shutter assembly is inside the lens but it's much easier to replace the whole lens). Good luck, Raf
Baby-dribble + Phone = Dead Phone
If your phone was exposed to baby-dribble, your kid might have killed your Phone.
Take it to your local Service-Center and have them take a look at it. Let them decide if the phone could be repaired or might be up for early replacement.
Normal warranty-conditions might not cover the damage if its "moisture-damage".
Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem.
In any case it could not make it worse
Good luck!
