Hi klb19,
how far are you from the router? have you tried using your sons computer near your area? is your laptop wifi capable?

click start, run and type in "services.msc" without quotes
look for wireless zero configuration and see if the status is started,if not, right click on it and select start,

right click your wireless icon at the lower right corner of your desktop and select view wireless connections. did it work?

let me know if it works. :)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

DOESN'T DETECT WIFI

The wireless feature on a Gateway computer allows you to connect to a network without the hassle of cables. This allows you to browse the Internet conveniently wherever you are. Gateway computers rely on Windows operating systems, which come with a built-in feature to manage your wireless connection. This feature makes turning off your wireless connection an easy process if, for a moment, you prefer to connect to the Internet using a wired connection.

Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel." Click Network and Internet Connections > Network Connection, if you are using a Windows XP Gateway computer. You should see your wireless connection. For Windows Vista and 7 Gateway computers, click "Network and Sharing Center" from the Control Panel and click "Manage Wireless Connections." You should see your wireless connection. Right-click your wireless connection and click "Disable" to turn it off. Close "Network Connections" when you are done.

GETTING ON INTERNET

Tom,
Sorry to hear about your wife. I assume that her computer was connected to the internet previously by your wife. You will need to know her password for the internet connection and how the internet was connected to the computer (phone line, cable, or wireless).

If it phone or cable line connect computer to cable, turn on computer, pick internet icon, and enter password when asked.

Most likely this will not work. Go to where she bought the computer or to any computer repair store for more assistance.

PC rebooting randomly when connected to our wireless account

Check to see if you nieghbor is not playing tricks on you. This sounds rel fishy that your computer reboots when connected to this guys router. Some one is loading something as soon as it is connected. Try loading it with you wireless acount instead of the nieghbors. Also make sure you have your current antvirus and firewalls loaded. But also check to see if Conflicker is an issue, this is a new virus that uses other computers as robots causing them to reboot and install software and make them do all kinds of illgal activites and this one writes to the bios.

Hope this information give you some idea please rate accordenly thanks.

I am unable to get wireless internet connected i have called escapenet and i have called my speechtouch and they said its my computers problem but previous to my son buying computer wireless internet...

To my knowledge of understanding is as if the WIFI is weak and cannot get connected to any network around anymore so if you wish to have a wirelless connection you can still make use of a USB doggle and the network operator or manufacturer will give you the access and you browse anywhere you go with your system and the USB will be connected to your system ok

My son is home visiting and cannot connect to our high speed internet. It must be something on his computer, as my computer when I hook it up works just fine. Can you help me out? Thanks... Pat

Hi,

This may be due to many reasons.

Firstly, you may be trying to connect both machines on the net within a short time interval... normally ISPs don't allow this to happen, as they want to connect only one PC to one home type connection. Try connecting your son's PC after disconnecting your PC for atleast 1 hour. :)

Also, try to check the settings on your son's PC...it may not be having proper settings for accepting a new network conenction due to some settings of security softwares installed.

If everything is OK and still you are not able to connect, please don't feel shy to call your ISP for a rational explanation.

bye

Have a nice day
