As this motherboard supports AGP Graphics cards you should refer to my tip: http://www.fixya.com/support/r6784133-list_compatible_graphics_cards_agp8x
There I give a complete list of compatible video cards for this board.

Just replace the video card with a decent AGP one. Select it from one of these

Have you tried running your antivirus program followed by this
try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps

I have a Hp Pavilion 733b with chipset 845g, i have 1gb of ram but just recognise 256mb

Product: HP Pavilion 733b Desktop PC

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=296502&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

Motherboard: FIC VG31

[ First International Computers ]

Motherboard specifications;

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07722&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=296502

Memory Type: DDR Sdram
Memory Speed: DDR Sdram at 266MegaHertz, or 200MHz
(PC2100, and PC1600, respectively)

Memory Sockets: Two. For Dual Inline Memory Module/s.
Maximum Memory: -> Maximum TOTAL Amount for motherboard.
2GB.
Maximum Amount for EACH ram memory slot: 1GB

So far looks good, BUT;

1) Is the Ram Memory Non-ECC?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECC_memory

2) Un-Buffered? (Un-Registered)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unbuffered_memory

3) Voltage: Does it use 2.5 Volts?

JEDEC standard for DDR Sdram ram memory voltage is 2.5 Volts (DC)
FIC is going to set the ram memory default voltage at 2.5 Volts.

Point? DDR Sdram at 2.6 Volts, or higher, may not work.
Betting the motherboard doesn't have SPD, and the ram memory may not either.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_presence_detect

4) Ram Memory frequency rate:
What frequency rate of ram memory are you using?
(Excuse me,...'Speed')

The Intel 82845G Northbridge chip, will only support DDR Sdram at a -> Maximum <- frequency rate, of 266Megahertz. (266MHz),

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_chipsets

I have seen websites offering DDR Sdram at 400MHz for this board.
Maybe there is a BIOS update, I don't know. But going with the standard BIOS program that is installed, and info for the Intel 845G support, I would say this = No.

Processor Front Side Bus (FSB) support is either 400MHz, or 533MHz.
Ram memory typically operates at HALF of the Processor's FSB.

That would be 200MHz (PC1600), or 266MHz (PC2100), respectively.

[Half of 533 = 266.5
It's just rounded down to 266 ]

Can you read a manufacturer's label on the ram memory modules?
If so post what you see in a Comment.

Regards,
joecoolvette

[Sometimes when upgrading ram memory, it may take you to turn the computer completely off, and wait 1 minute. Then turn it on, and let it run for a couple of minutes, then turn it off. Wait 1 minute, turn it back on.

IF, the motherboard does have SPD, and IF, the Ram Memory has SPD, it may take a couple of 'Cold Boots', for BIOS to recognize the Ram Memory.

Some of the old mobo's were just like that.

Hp says maximum memory is 2 x 512, yet memorystock and other sellers say I can go up to 2 x 1 gig. Is this safe?

If the computer is a model a710n, the motherboard will take up to 2 GB of RAM. Full motherboard specs are here, and they'll tell you everything you need to know to get compatible memory.

I had just one memory module on this motherboard which was kingston ddr, 256mb, pc2100. Then i upgraded my mobo with one stick of pc3200 ddr ram, and it keeps restarting and sometimes it just turns off...

PC 3200 is not supported by this motherboard. It will cause problems. You need to use PC2100 RAM.

Hope this helps.

I want to upgrade my memory on my Pavilion 513n,

FixYa is a product support website, and as such we do not delve into manufacturing. No we cannot supply ram memory.

I can supply you with the solution to your questions, however.

This is HP Support, and the main page for the Pavilion 513n Desktop PC,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=90384&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=5&submit.x=6&lang=en&cc=us

If you click on > Product information > Product specifications > HP Pavilion 513n Desktop PC Product Specifications,
you can view,

A) What type of ram memory the computer uses,
B) How much is the Maximum Total Amount for the computer,
C) How much is the Maximum Amount for EACH ram slot,
D) How many ram slots

Look under the Memory heading.
A) What type of ram memory
Type - DDR
It's DDR Sdram

Speed - PC1600/PC2100
Tells you either PC1600 can be used, or PC2100.

PC1600 is DDR Sdram that operates at 200MHz.
PC2100 is DDR Sdram that operates at 266MHz.

{To expound:
Ram memory operates at a Frequency Rate. Slang for frequency rate is 'Speed'.
Mega = approximately 1 Million
Hertz stands for Cycles per Second
Example: PC2100 is DDR Sdram that operates at 266 Million Cycles per Second }

B) What is the Maximum Total Amount for the computer. (Motherboard)
According to HP it is 1GB.

{Maximum - 1GB (2 X 512) HP recommended maximum}

I believe this to be wrong. The Total Maximum Amount is 2GB.
1GB per ram slot.

I base this upon using the memory configurator's of several websites, that sell ram memory for the Pavilion 513n desktop computer, and looking at what the motherboard chipset for the Pavilion 513n will support.

The motherboard chipset is the Intel 845GL.
This chart found on Wikipedia, states what the Intel 845GL chipset will support,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

As you can see reading across from the 845GL subheading, and looking under > Max.memory, 2GB is listed.

Sources for online memory configurators,
1) Crucial.com
2) Tigerdirect.com
3) Newegg.com
4) Memory4less.net

In this case,
C) Maximum Amount for EACH ram slot is 1GB.

D) There are Two ram slots. {Proper speak for ram Slot is ram Bank}

Kingston is a good brand for economical ram memory.
So is Ultra.

An easy way to find out what type of ram memory you need, and how much is the Maximum Total Amount, as well as the Maximum Amount for Each ram slot, is to use an automatic scanner from a website that sells ram memory.

The above four websites listed, are but a small handful of the total websites online that offer an automatic scan.
Let's use Crucial.com for an example.

On the main page,

http://www.crucial.com/

,you will see - Scan My System, in blue.
Simply click on it to run an automatic scan of your computers hardware.
Doesn't look at your personal effects, just the hardware of your computer.

After the scan is done, you will be presented with the ram memory info you need.
Several options of ram memory are presented for you to choose from.

Looking for a manual and motherboard layout for a compaq presario 4090us 4000 seirs 900MHz duron processor

According to my sources a Compaq Presario 4090us is supposed to use an FIC AZ31 motherboard.
FIC = First International Computer, Inc.)

I don't have a motherboard manual available, but MAY have a motherboard layout.

Supporting Data:

Specifications from HP Support: (HP bought out Compaq)

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00009310&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=92635

1) Processor:
AMD Duron 900
Maximum Frequency Rate: 900MegaHertz
Front Side Bus: (FSB) 200MHz
Voltage: 1.6 Volts (DC)
Wattage used at maximum capability: 36.5 Watts
Part Number: (Top of Processor case. Heatsink, and thermal paste removed)
D900AUT1B

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Duron_microprocessors#Duron_.22Spitfire.22_.28Model_3.2C_180_nm.29

2) Ram Memory:
Maximum Total Amount: 768MB
Maximum Amount for EACH ram slot: 256MB
SDR Sdram at 100MHz (PC100)

[Note* SDR Sdram is Single Data Rate Sdram, ram memory. Misnomer of just naming it Sdram is incorrect. All ram memory from SDR up to DDR3, IS Sdram]

3) Harddrive: 30B IDE harddrive. Should be a Quantum Fireball LCT20. (Part Number: QM30000-LD-A)

4) Motherboard Chipset: Sources state that it's a VIA KT133 chipset.
[Chip and Chipset are slang terms for I.C., or Integrated Circuit]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VIA_chipsets#Slot_A_and_Socket_A

As you can see in the chart reading across from KT133, this chipset supports AP graphics cards that are 4X. Same thing is stated in the specifications from HP Support.

5) The HP Support specifications also state that the mobo (MOtherBOard) has one Primary IDE header for an IDE harddrive, one Secondary IDE header for an IDE optical drive, and one IDE header for a Floppy Disk drive.

Motherboard layout for an FICAZ34 mobo, which I believe is the same, in an additional comment to follow.

More Ram for graphics

You can share the RAM for VGA max of 256 only for some motherboards. On BIOS select the AUTO instead of selecting 128MB share memory.
