Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

1 Answer

When i turn on the net book it asks to allow a program from the hard drive this turns out to be Antivirus 8, we already have an antivirus software. This will not allow us to do anything on the computer until we download and pay for the full program. Is there anyway to restore to factory default settings?

Hi

See if you can start up in safe mode poss F8 on startup and if you can get in go to control panel add remove programmess then look for the antivirus and uninstall it and if it works and the computer is running ok again ( with some luck ) i would then go and set a restore point of your own and call it something that you will remember maybe all good or after removing antivirus

then if you have this prob again you can go to system restore and take it back to there

My friend had a very similar problem only a few weeks ago and the only way that we could get rid of the darn thing was to pretend that we were gonna buy the darn thing so that it would kindly allow us to do anything on the computer then when it opened the webpage i managed to navagate to the control panel and remove it

one has to be very very carefull when downloading software or anything from the internet
we must always take each step at a time reading the things that they are offering and most cases we need to take the ticks out of such things that we dont want

good luck with it i had a big fight to get rid

How to install antivirus in Buffalo Tsx40tlr5 Terastation

You have antivirus installed on this NAS system? You will want to look up the product manual for that product and see if it allows antivirus programs to be installed. Some NAS stations come with built in anti virus. You could even contact their support to get a list of "SUPPORTED" anti virus software. At which point, you will have to telnet or console into the data storage system and install the software. You could probably install the files through a CIFS connection but it would be best to contact Buffalo support as they can walk you through the proper steps.

Error 138 (net::ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED

Either: peerblock is blocking your sites
Or: This is most likely your antivirus program blocking Chrome from accessing the internet. The firewall is blocking Google Chrome because the antivirus program no longer recognizes it - even though it is on the list of permitted programs. To fix this problem, make sure your antivirus and/or firewall software are configured as a trusted application to allow Chrome to access the internet.

Recording (?) light on front of case continuously flash's, as if it is writing to the HD. haven't found anyway to stop or correct that.

Hi,
The Hard Disk activity LED indicator blinks only when there is some Read/ Write activity. In your case if the LED is blinking frequently, it certainly means some activity. It could by due to the following reasons: -
1. Antivirus program automatically scanning the disk
OR
2. Probably due to some virus activity.

So, I suggest that you may check the Antivirus program settings for any automatic/ scheduled scans (as some antivirus programs automatically start scanning the external drive). Secondly, if there appears any virus activity (which is likely) you should update the Antivirus program and scan the system. If you dont have the Antivirus program installed on your PC, to disinfect the system you may install antivirus, update it and scan.
AVG 2011 Antivirus FREE Edition
From the above link AVG can be downloaded and installed for FREE. Its basic antivirus protection.
Install AVG and scan the system.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

Your WD HDD have been attacted by viruses for your computer or outside computer where you used it last. Make sure that you have an up to date antivirus software, scan your computer or the external hard drive, explore your computer, go to tools - folder options under view files & folders select show hidden files and folders apply and ok it.

If your hard drive is not being detected, try looking in the bios. I had a similar problem and for some reason the setting for using the hard drive as a bootable device had been changed.

I need a antivirus.

Well, there are very many antivirus softwares, it really depends if you are looking for free ones or ones that you will have to purchase.
When it comes to antivirus software, Kaspersky Antivirus (must pay for) is very good. On my net book, I use Microsoft Security Essentials, mainly because it uses almost no system resources.

USB Antivirus

Vhinz_dprinz, To answer your question if you're using a USB flash drive, I would assume that you have a PC that you're using as well. Your PC should have an antivirus installed on it, if so you can open up the control panel of your antivirus program and set it to scan it. I'm sure you're well aware that once you plug the flash drive in, it pops up as a removable drive, you can then tell your antivirus program to scan that particular drive.

Now another thing that you can try is installing AVG antivirus, it's a free download for personal use, you can set the program to auto-scan your harddrive and any other removable drives attached to it. Normally you should set it to scan at night while you're sleeping and not using the flash drive. Let me know if you need further input on this issue. Goodluck

Run the defrag on your hard drive then a test for errors on it.Let it fix any erors found as it runs . Then try to reinstall the antivirus software. If the defrag or the fix disk software keep going on and on and on then the hard drive is shot.
