SOURCE: Ge wall oven display says F7

Your problem is most likely caused by a short between sections of the ribbon cable between the touchpanel and the electronic control. The solution is to insert a slip of paper between the sections where it exits the touch panel. See the attached photo. If you have a metal touchpanel, insert slips of paper on either side of the ribbon cable as well. CAUTION: Be certain to turn off the power to the oven before you poke your fingers in and around the touchpanel. My solution has worked for hundreds of folks. Don't worry about the paper burning. If you have questions, contact me at hutchipop@yahoo.com.

SOURCE: F7 error message on GE oven

Send an e-mail to Charlie at hutchipop@yahoo.com for a fix-it that you can try. He explains a possible solution fully with his 'The Dreaded "F7" Error' solution. I actually found his information on another website when I did a web search for "GE Profile Oven F7 Issue". I sent an e-mail to him and he replied with free fix-it information. I am not a repair person myself, but, his instructions are very clear and simple to follow. I did the fix-it at no cost in approximately 10 minutes and it has solved my problem so far.

My oven is also a JT950 and the builder installed it in our home back in 2000. Our F7 issue started about 2 years ago. For a few months, "clearing" the panel and/or shutting the oven off at the breaker panel would temporarily solve the problem. About 1 1/2 year ago, however, the F7 would come on and continually beep. A repairman looked at the oven and replaced the control panel at a cost of $600 (ugh...). That solved the problem until a month ago when the F7 continuous beeping began again. There was no way I was going to pay another $600. for "temporary" repair and I was thinking of replacing the oven. Luckily, I came across the above-mentioned fix-it information and took a chance by following the simple instructions provided.

SOURCE: F7 Failure Code

Hi markw421,
No you do not need to pull the entire oven. If I knew the model number I could give you specific instructions. You can go to www.partselect.com and put in your model number and you will find diagrams that will help you open up the beast.

SOURCE: Double GE wall oven - F7 code

You either have a stuck touch pad button or a bad clock.
Push all buttons several times to try and clear.
If not successful repair is a new clock.

It's most likely that the error code you are seeing is F1, not F7. F1 is a code for 'stuck touch pad'. You will need to replace the clock/ERC or the touch pad (or both).

Control panel doesn't work

F7 indicates either a stuck key or the main control has failed. Try depressing each button one at a time checking for a stuck key. If each one retracts I would replace the main control this is more likely the problem. There easy to replace. If you enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com you can get diagrams and illustrations of your specific model.

The F7 code appears with a beeping noise. How do I turn off the beep for good.... selecting clear/off only works for a few seconds

Hi,

Well, F7 error code occures due to
A = Function pad button stuck or
B = Bad clock Unstick button or
Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC)

Replace the ERC there are ten screws 3 on each side and 4 on the control leave the hex screws alone all you need is a phillip screwdriver.
REMEMBER TO SHUT OFF THE POWER FIRST lift and fold out the control panel remove the ribbon cable and remove the four screws that hold the control board . replace control panel in reverse order.

Thanks

GE JT912-30 single wall oven "help" with F7 - F0 error

I have a double oven GE Profile. The error message FO appeared. I shut off the circuit breaker for 30 minutes or more and the oven works but without warning FO reappears. FO message means there is short in the clear Off touch button. The only solution replace the complete panel. My cost delivered $328. Ouch!
