Whirlpool side by side with water and icemaker. My water works perfectly fine but my ice maker no longer produces ice. It runs but it's not getting any water to make ice. What can be done to fix this?

There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water.
First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube.
Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!

The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.

My refrigerator is not making ice

Check the water supply
Check if water supply filter is clogged
Check the water supply solenoid.
Check that the ice supply sensing arm is in the down position.
Does the unit try to go through a harvest cycle? The unit has a motor that drives fingers to eject the ice from a freezing tray.
Check the electrical cable connection to the icemaker
Check that water in the icemaker itself is not frozen. A heater in the icemaker is there to prevent freeze ups and also to slightly melt the ice so it can be driven out during harvest cycle.
Typically, the icemaker units have a heater coil and a fuse; check the the electrical circuit. They also typically use a thermistor that may have an open circuit (you can try to just short it out - it is supposed to open only if the heater gets too hot)

Why is ice maker is HOT

You have a stuck on switch. The icemaker gets hot so that the ice melts a bit before the sweep arm pushes the ice out of the form. Make sure the ice maker is on and allow it to cycle a few times - that may free the switch.

Model FGHB2846LF3 ice maker not working

The ice maker has a heater element underneath it that is designed to melt the ice a little bit so that the fingers of the icemaker can scoop out the ice. If the element does not turn off and the fingers do not push the ice out it will melt with the result that you have. Appears that the cam conducting the operations is not working properly. Rather than buy this part separately (expensive) you can get a new working icemaker on ebay for about 45 dollars and you can easily install the unit yourself.

Small drip out of ice maker. Ice cubes dump out of ice maker are sort of siamese. I.E., they are chained together by a tiny amount of ice.

You are getting too much water to your icemaker, either faulty water valve or extremely high pressure or extremely low pressure either way will cause too much water in your icemaker, extreme low causes water valve not to shut off, high pressure lets too much water through when it opens. These pressures are not adjustable in the fridge. You can on certain models adjust the amount of time the valve is on, per the icemaker, it usually will have a screw on the side of it towards the front of the icemaker.

I noticed the freezer was not working as well as usual. The back wall of the freezer, by the ice maker (not hooked up) is very hot. What's going on?

The heater on the icemaker is staying on. Be very careful not to touch the bottom of the icemaker and remove it from freezer asap. Do not touch the bottom of the icemaker mold because thios will severly burn you. Take the icemaker out or the freezer wall will start melting.

Icemaker makes ice, then partially melts, constantly jamming disp

Good day.
Tough one if it works from time to time. Shut the water to the machine completely off and clean out the ice maker well.
Pour water into the well until near full. Wait 3 hours to see if it harvests normally. If it's a normal harvest, repeat the test 2 to 3 more times. If it acts normally on harvest, replace the water valve on the bottom back of he machine.
If it acts abnormally, then you will need to replace the ice maker, and the water valve should be replaced at the same time.

Note: The freezer temperature must be normal for this testing to work properly, and the water supply from the house must be strong. Extremely weak water to the machine from the house will unbalance the fill cycle because it is a straight time fill. 7 seconds, unlike a washing machine that fills to a specific level.

Melting ice in icemaker. Repairman out twice and says he fixed it and yet my ice continues to melt and drips inside the freezer.

One of my most disliked things in life is to have a repairman go into the home and make repeat visits. Then when they have the gall to say it is fixed and they are back for a 3rd time.... (need I say more!?!!

Melting ice in the icemaker only means that the mold heater element for initially loosening the ice cubes from the tray in the icemaker is not shutting off or the bi-metal thermostat in the icemaker is bad.

The ice maker test procedures are here:

I would print that out and hand it to the repairman the next time he walks through the door. Simply state "This may help you compete the job right." and leave it at that.

The sad news it it could take replacement of the ice maker to rid yourself of the melting ice saga.

Hopefully he can use the printout and then get the necessary parts to get you back in business real soon.

Thanks for using Fixya!

GE Refrigerator Stoped making ice

the small pipe in side the freezer the one that supplies water to it, it builds ice in side, you can melt the ice by getting some hot water and a towel and wet the pipe with it intel ice melts , or you can unplug the frige with the door open over night.first solution is better.
