Question about Panasonic CT-36HL43 36" TV

No Power on Panasonic 36HX42

Fell asleep in front of the TV last night, when I woke up TV was off -- thought that was odd but went to bed. Today, no power. Can't turn on from remote or power switch on front. Was plugged into a Monster power surge strip (all other electronics plugged into this strip are working fine). If I unplug the power cord, then plug it into another outlet on the strip (can't reach a wall outlet), then press the power button, a red light comes on for about 2 seconds, I hear one beep, then no power again. The TV was purchased new in March 2003. The TV is too large to see the back or get to the back (it's in a large TV cabinet). I cannot move the TV by myself and do not have anyone to help. Panasonic web site says I don't have the right model number even though 36HX42 is what is printed on the owner's manual and I matched the photo on the Panasonic web site. Is there a reset button? Possible problems? Panasonic web site says to carry it in to an authorized repair shop, problem is I couldn't possibly carry it anywhere! and the closest shop it 43 miles away. Can you help? Exact same problem this afternoon. One minute it is on, walked outside, came back it was off never to be turneded on again. My husband is removing it from the cabinet but now what???

Could this be a defective part that is seeming to run out ib the past 6 months or so?????Panasonic can you help us??

I have the opposite problem on my Panasonic CT20R11S model color tv. It won't turn off. If I press the off button on either the tv or remote, it shuts off then comes right back on! I have to unplug it to keep it from staying on all the time.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sometimes it can stay for a minute then sometimes more or less ?

Power Supply do can go bad - Try to find Repair Service - use the box at the right side part of this page.

But if your husband can do it - he just need to check the power supply section

I had a same issue with my Panasonic TH-42PV500B plasma television. I tried everything which is written above and can be found on different websites. Finally I decided to replace the HDMI Board itself. I was able to buy a used one on ebay, it was only 13 pounds with postage. It is relatively easy to remove this HDMI Board. You should just unplug the TV and remove all of the screws form the back which are fixing the back of the TV to the frame. There are plenty of screws. You should remove all of them! Remove the backplate of the TV. After this you can remove another metal plate from inside, which covers this HDMI board - 4 screws. After you can remove the HDMI Board - only one screw holding it to the main board. Replace the new one back and put back the cover plate and the back of the TV. And it is working. 10_19_2012_3_10_22_pm.png Panasonic 42 Plasma TV TH-42PV500B Part HDMI Board Order number: TNPA3626
