SOURCE: cannot get correct resolution
1. It could be limitation of your video card. Older cards would not support high resolution for LCD monitors.
2. Be sure to use DVI(digital) output from your video card. You will not get a good resolution with VGA(analog)
3. When installing driver for a monitor sometimes you will get a chose to install analog(VGA) or digital(DVI) driver. Choose the correct driver.

SOURCE: Monitor resolution
I ran this monitor for ages on a gforce 7800gt graphics card with flight sim and had no problems until one day it did exactly the same thing.
After uninstalling and re-installing Drivers for both screen and graphics card failed I searched the forums and it is not the monitors fault, its the graphics card not understanding the monitor. The card reacts to any changes you have made to it and adapts to suit (Eg; LCD screens, TV's, S.Video cables etc)
With the Monitor you get a DVI cable. Switch off the computer, unplug your VGA cable and plug in the DVI cable then switch the computer back on.
When the computer reboots to the main screen go into the NVIDIA menu and select single screen view (disable all clones with TV's)
Now in the resolution choices in the NVIDIA menu the resolutions will have changed to max 1680x1050.
Hope this helps.

Tricky one. Have you tried using different dispay resolutions from your Windows Display Control Panel?
ie 1200x1014, 1600x1400, etc.
When you say you used the manual adjust, do you mean the horizontal sync option?
Did you perform a Settings Recall?
And most monitors have a way of entering into an engineering "Factory Service Menu". Usually by depressing specific buttons while the monitor is OFF, and then pressing the power button while still holding the others. Then let all button go at once. From there, hit the normal button that you use for getting into the OSD. In the OSD, there's usually a new field with all kinds of cool new settings to play with. One of them being a soft reset. You'll have to search the net for how to enter into your Factory service menu.
Oh wait! I know!
If your picture has moved to the right, move yourself accordingly.
So that now you and your picture will be aligned properly.
He he he...
That one was from ViewSonic customer support.
