Question about Garden

I have the Ryobi RY09050 gas blower/ vacuum brand new bought from Home Depot. I try to start it cold as said in the manual. I pull, and pull, and pull, and pull on a flat surface and it does not even think of starting. Why is this? Larry Houghten Whitby,Ontario

It runs fine once it gets going, however it is very hard starting when cold and the Ryobi RY09050 is brand new. I pump the gas bulb 7 times, put the lever to start, pull, and pull, and pull, and pull and it just does not even think of starting. How come?????? This should not be like this, brand new.

It's brand new, I should not have to do this.
The unit starts after priming the (S) of of it.
I turn it off while emptying the bag, it takes 2 pulls to restart it and when I angle it down to pick up leaves it slows down for a while and then speeds back up again. Why?????

I would check for spark, if it has spark, then I would pour a little mixed gas down the into the cylinder, reinsert spark plug and then try starting it again, if it starts then dies. Then it is not getting gas for some reason. Hope this helped Tim

I had the same problem. it was cool outside about 38 degrees. I took the blower into the house for about two hours took it back outside and primed it just like it says to do and it fired right up. i think the very first time it is just hard to start. don't think it primes well the very first time. It started the rest of the day. Hope this helps

I'll try that and see what happens. The blower/vacuum should start in cool weather for I have to collect leaves in cool weather.

  • lhoughten Nov 23, 2010

I tried that to no avail. I find that I have to prime to S out of it to get it to start.
Once it has been running for a while, it takes 2 pulls to restart it after emptying the bag.
Allso, when I angle it down to pick up leaves, it tends to slow down for a while then speeds back up again, why????? you tell me!

Brand new Ryobi 2-cycle backpack leaf blower. It will not run full throttle. Should I take back and get new one or ?

Take it back. If the new one doesn't perform like it should get your money back and buy a Stihl. They will fuel and run the machine before you ever leave the dealer with it to make sure it runs like it should and they can answer any questions and even get you parts. Husqvarna may do the same thing

I have a new ryobi ry09050 blower/vacuum and it is almost impossible to start. I Cranked for 30 minutes and no luck, not even a hint orf startion'g I would like a manual for this machine. It is either...

take the carby in for overhaul and new diaphragm kit fitted
the main diaphragm is hard and not sealing on the holes so it is not pumping fuel
40: 1 or 50: 1 is alright and the gap is .020-.025"

why I say that is that stihl use an oil that mixes as 50:1 but it is suitable for the full range of ratios in the stihl range of engines
makes no difference what brand of engine , the ratio is to ensure enough oil to lubricate the bearings and cylinders

I bought a Ryobi RY34420 yesterday from home depot

Sounds as tho it needs a minor carburetor adjustment. It's not getting enough fuel when you pull the throttle. Don't know if the owners manual addresses this issue or not, may want to check.

My new Ryobi boggs down/ stalls as soon as I pull on the trigger.

You should have 2 small adjuster screws next to each other on top of the carb.Try adjusting each of them a little with a thin screwdriver as the engine is running.Put strimmer on the ground first and adjust screws while you are revving engine until it runs correctly.Trial and error and very small adjustments can make quite a difference.Hope this helps.

Ryobi gas trimmer

I don't mean to over simplify this, but are you using fresh gas? Gas string trimmers are extremely ticky when it comes to gas. They like it SUPER fresh. And while the gas and oil mixture should be right, it can be off a little bit and still run. Try draining all of the gas out, and then filling up with fresh mix. This is ALWAYS my first step with string trimmers, and it fixes the problem 75% of the time.
Hope this helps!!
