Try running diagnostics on your computer to see if you have a hardware problem. You should have a CD that came with the computer that has "Diagnostics and Utilities" listed under contents. Boot form this CD and run the extended diagnostics.
If you don't have the CD you can go toTo bootfrom a CD disk, power on your computer and tap the key to bring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD into the top CD/DVDdrive and then select "Boot from CD/DVD" and hit key. Select the "Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics.

If all tests pass then reload OS ( Operating Software ).

Try plugging in headphones into your computer. If they work then your audio circuit is working. You can also try running the diagnostics from the the Resource CD, It will have"Diagnostics and utilities" listed under the "Contents". You will have to bootfrom that CD disk. To do this, power on your computer and tap the keyto bring you to the "One time boot menu". Insert the CD and then select CD/DVDdrive and hit key. Selectthe "Run the 32 Bit Dell Diagnostics". Select "Custom Tests" and run the audiotest. If the audio tests fail you might have a problem with your speakers. The easiest and sure fire way to determine if your speakers are the problem is to try another set of speakers.

How to replace a dvddrive in a hp s3200n it keeps getting hung up on the right side

To get the detailed steps (with images) to replace the DVD drive on HP s3200n, kindly refer to the help article by clicking this link

Kindly follow the precautions to reduce the chance of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

  1. Please turn off the computer, disconnect all cables, and transfer the computer to a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.
  2. To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a noncarpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (such as a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.

Kindly let me know if you have any difficulty.

Hope this solves your problem. Thanks for using FixYa
