Do you have a manual?
You can download a free manual from the Brother site.
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users%20Manual/UM_XL_3010_EN_239.PDF
Page 13 of the manual (page 20 of the PDF file) shows you how to thread the machine.
Hope this helps!

I'm having a problem threading my brother sewing machine model XL 3010

1. Clean up any loose thread in the bobbin area.
2. Pull on the bobbin thread while it is out. It should give a tension that is equal to the top tension of three. You'll have to approximate. Adjust the screw tension on the bobbin. It is the screw nearest to the thread exit hole on the side.
3. Put it back in.
4. Now, the top tension should be at about three. If it still allows a little wad on the bottom of the fabric you can adjust the top tension by tightening a small amount and monitor each time you adjust. The wad should go away.

How do I fix the stitching on my Brother XL-3010?

Your tension sounds far too loose. Or your needle is blunt.

I have a brother XL 3010 and the lower threading has come off track how do I fix this

DOES THIS MEAN THE THREAD ON THE BOTTOM IS TOO LOOSE? IF THIS IS TRUE THEN TIGHTEN THE TOP TENSION. IF IT IS TOO TIGHT THEN LOOSEN THE TOP TENSION. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY SURE WHAT YOU MEAN "OFF TRACK" SO WHAT I HAVE TOLD YOU MAY NOT BE USEFUL. GIVE ME MORE INFORMATION IF THIS DOESN'T HELP.

How do i set the tension on my brother xl-3010 sewing machine . the bottom thread is always in knots but the top stitch is perfect. i do not know which wheel to turn for the bottom tension.

I don't have this machine, but the tension on the bobbin is usually set by the tiny screw on the bobbin case. insert the bobbin into the case so that the thread unrolls counter clockwise. Make sure that there is no lint in the bobbin area.

XL 3010 always pulls tread from the needle instead of from the spool I leave a long thread from needle and seems to use that instead of from the spool does not stitch

is your machine able to use two needles if so you may have the spool on the wrong spool post and threading through the opposing needle

I have a Brothers XL-3200 which works great but then the bottom thread will bunch up, amass, thread will wind around the bobbin and lock up the machine. It can also break the needle. Can you help me??

Your thread tension needs adjustment.

Most likely it is the lower thread tension (not the upper thread tensioner).

When sewing very thin or very heavy material - it is required to adjust the lower tension as well.

To regulate the lower thread tension - turn the small screw on the tension spring of the bobbin case with a small screwdriver.

To increase tension - turn it clockwise SLIGHTLY.
