Does seagate external hard drive back up the whole system each time it backs up or only new data?

Step 1:
It will depend on which back up program you have or selected usually it will back up the entire system.
Scheduled backups are an integral part of any effective disaster recovery plan. The Windows Backup Utility is offered in a free download on Microsoft's website and, while it is not the most feature-rich tool on the market, the Windows Backup Utility will back up files to hard disk, CD-Recordable (CD-R) or tape at the times and dates specified for the scheduled job. Editing scheduled jobs can be easily done. Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of the window. Select "All Programs." Choose "Accessories" and "System Tools." Select "Backup." Click the hyperlink "Advanced Mode" in the "Backup or Restore Wizard" window. Choose the "Scheduled Jobs" tab. Click on the icon in the calendar for the job you want to edit. Select the "Properties" button from the "Scheduled data" tab. Choose the "Schedule" tab. Select the task schedule from the drop-down box beneath "Schedule Task." Set the start time by clicking the up and down arrows in the box under "Start Time." Choose the "Settings" tab. Select the desired options using the check boxes under "Scheduled Task Completed," "Idle Time" and "Power Management." Click the "OK" button. Click the "OK" button in the "Scheduled Job Options" window. Type the user name used to run the job in the space beside "Run as" in the "Set Account Information" window. Type the password and confirm the password. Click the "OK" button. Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the "Back up utility" window.

How do I backup itunes file on external harddrive

It's a good idea to regularly back up all important files on your computer to an external source to prevent data loss. Your iTunes music, videos and other digital downloads are stored in separate files within the iTunes folder. However, if you consolidate them into a single folder, it's easier to back them up to an external hard drive.

Launch iTunes. Go to the program's Preferences menu. Click the "Advanced" tab. Check the box next to "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" and click "OK." Click "File." Select "Library" and then "Organize Library." Check the box next to "Consolidate Files" and click "OK." Close iTunes. Connect your external hard drive to your computer. Find the iTunes media folder on your computer's hard drive. Drag the folder to the icon for your external drive to copy your iTunes media.

My pictures are not being backed up. Memeo gives message stating failed to back-up. Error (9) is displayed

Failed backups can usually be traced to your antivirus running in the backgound. if you have any active antivirus and spyware detection running then stop them before you backup. Should work ok then.

Hdd unreadable & irrecoverable

Ok, to see if it is the Drive OR the Interface, disassemble the unit and remove the Drive, get a SATA/IDE USB Dongle, and using this plug it into the Hard Drive and connect to a PC, IF the drive is OK, you will be able to "Access" it and that means the Drive is OK but the Interface circuitry is NOT. Thats about all one can do. If the Drive is OK, you maybe able to put it back into another "House" and use it. Either way if it can be accessed you will be able to get everything, hopefully, back.

Iomega drive clicks 2/second. Fails to connect

Hello there:
sorry to say this but it looks like the platters on the harddrive are scratched and unreadable or the little pointer arm in the drive that is used to get the information is faulty is unable to read any of the information so it is swinging back and forth across the platters looking for information, when it cant find any it records it as a no device found.
you may be able to have the drive repaired but it may cost you a bit to do it ok you may want to consider trying to get the information backed up off the drive if you can and than see if it can indeed be repaired. ok?
best of luck michael

SanDisk 8GB lights up but wont register

This one is just a hunch. The drive might be bad but this is worth a try. Its possible the drive letter somehow changed on the flashdrive. Plug in the drive, RIGHT click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" from the drop down menu. Now select "Disk Management" from the list. If you see your flash drive on the list, right click on it and select "Change drive letter and paths", then click on "change", now assign it a new letter like "F" for example. Click ok, ok, ok. If it showed up the the list and it's still not registering, unplug it and plug it back in. Hope that helps.

ok, well the 0x80070057 error code typically occurs because of 3rd party driver issue!

so, this is long but a program that fixed this was removed (sad)

rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type: services.msc
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.
Now rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
a) Click Start, click Run, type
%systemroot%
...and then click OK.
b) Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c) Type SoftwareDistribution.old and then press ENTER to rename this folder.
Now click Start, and choose Run.
In the Run box, type: services.msc
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.
NB - You will lose your update download history but this is not that important really being a fresh comp!

good luck! lamby
