Question about Computers & Internet

Can't Connect I recently purchased a Edimax PS-1203, and connected it to my Negear DG834G ADSL router. Now, both lights, on the server itself and the number 4 light on the router (as that is the port it is connected to) light up. However, when i go into the "attached devices" menu on the router, it is bringing up everything but the print server. I installed the driver, etc, but that didn't help. Also, during installation, it brings up a window sayin to pick a print server, but the box is empty. Any advice will help. Thanks My Edimax PS 1206Mfg is doing the same thing. I can't find it on the network.

I recently purchased a Netgear WPN824. The Netgear WPN824 is connected to a Speedstream 5200 modem. Internet connectivity is fine. I have not enabled the wireless capabilities; everything is connected via ethernet. I have enabled DHCP and have three computers up and running. I can't get my HP JetDirect J6057A on the network. No IP address is being assigned. Did a cold reset. IP address reverts back to default Tried to install new firmware but device is not found on network. Ran configuration page from printer. "TCP/IP status is Ready. Default IP Configured Continuing to DHCP." Obviously, checked cables. Lights are on both ends of ethernet connection. The HP JetDirect played well with others with my old router.

Trying to install the Edimax print server 1206UWP. I connect all the cables, do the administration - setup (V. 3.8.42) and then it comes to: Searching Your Print Server. The result box comes up empty.

I tried to set the local area connection IP address to different values (e.g., (supposedly the IP address of the print server is Same result.

I fixed my problem by resetting the print server. You have to hold in the reset button for at least 20 seconds for it to work. I was previously just pressing it without holding.

Hope that this may help someone else.

The NetGear DG834G is an ADSL router. If you an ADSL internet connection, it should connect via PPPoE autentication.
This means that you must configure the username and password, on the router, provived by your internet service provider.
Please read the "Installing Your Router Using the Smart Wizard" section on the router's manual here and follow the steps.

My Netgear adsl router is not getting connected to Internet in pppOe mode ..

POPE configuration is logs into your ADSL system and connects to your ISP provider server to link , so one of the reason why it dosent is due to either password and username not correct. Log unto IP address of your Router and go to WAN configuration , Check your username and password and reset to the initial password and username your ISP provider gave you , when you signed up with them. Then apply changes , off your router for 1 min and then power it , then wait for the ADSL light on the router to be stable , connect to the IP address of your router again and "Volla" , it should be fine , if not , contact your ISP provider....

No Ports available

The default IP in the D-Link router is 192.168.1.x
The default IP in the Edimax is

Your 3rd octet (the # after 168) has got to be the same for the two of them to communicate.
So, you can either reIP your router, or connect your PC to the print server and change it. The software for the print server should have a tool for finding the PS by MAC address, then you can go in and reset it to 192.168.1.x

I cannot get connected to the internet.

If I understand you correctly you currently have a computer connected directly to your ADSL Internet connection and it can connect to the Internet. When you disconnect the computer, connect the DG834G router to the Internet connection and then connect the computer to the router you loose the Internet connection. It sounds like a ?simple? case of the router not being configured correctly. What I would suggest is to reset the router to its default configuration and follow the installation instructions again from the start. I?m not a big fan of the software configuration wizards that these home routers come with BUT they are the best way to easily configure the typical installation. To reset the router: in-between the 4 Ethernet LAN ports and the ADSL port there is a small reset button. Press and hold the reset button until the test LED turn on (about 10 seconds). Release the button and wait for the router to reboot. Let us know if this works or not. If you still have problems the more details and error messages you can supply the better.
