Question about Toshiba Satellite L305-S5933 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba L305-S5933 My laptop just wont start up. I left it over night to download some movies, and the next morning, when i try to wake up the screen, it would display anything, but the computer was on. So shut it off holding the power button, and started the safe mode, but i think it froze at some point, so i power buttoned it off again, and tried again, but this time with system recovery, but that took too long also! so i powered it off once more. the next time i tried to start it up normal but it would just take a long time to get to login screen, and just before it does, it goes to a black screen. i restarted it again, using the power button, but then this time it went blue screen of death on me! so what do i do???? i think i shouldnt have use that power button to many times..i may have corrupted my files.... or did i download a virus over night?

Blue screen should give an error number- if it will still start that far.
That error code would help you -just search on-line for the error number, but see Microsofts answers, not to get a dodgy answer.
I believe the L305 is a Vista base laptop (unless updated).
There are a few things you can try-

If system restore did not work, it is possible the hard drive has a faulty segment-
If you have a vista cd, you can try command prompt from there (scroll down the page to see it) and in command prompt window- type 9apparently 32 bit vista recovery iso is available here
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/15074/Recovery-CD-for-Windows-Vista-
chkdsk /f/r then press enter button-when finished type in EXIT, and the window will close.
This will then check and fix any disc errors
If it still refuses to boot- Go to command prompt, and type in
bootrec.exe /FixBoot
For more instruction on this go to
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/927392/use-bootrec.exe-in-the-windows-re-to-troubleshoot-startup-issues
First the ram- Try removing one at a time, and see if that will work-or, change the ram, or, try the ram in different slot, one at a time.

SOURCE: Toshiba laptop won't wake up from stand by or hibernate

I had the same problem on my Toshiba Satellite U305, struggling with it for the past 4 months and having to use Shutdown each time I was done using it. Very frustrating! Toshiba worked with me several weeks, telling me to re-install Vista and all the fixes, which took a lot of work backing up etc and this did not fix the problem. Today they finaly told me to try entering this special command and it fixed my problem. Maybe it will fix yours too.

Create a shortcut on the desktop and to make the shortcut, right click on the desktop, choose Create Shortcut, enter CMD.EXE where it asks you to "Enter the location of the item". This will create an icon on the desktop that looks like a mini-command prompt. Then on the desktop, RIGHT click on the CMD.EXE shortcut/icon you have created and select "Run as administrator". This will open a command prompt window. Here in the black-box with white letter window, enter the command "powercfg -h on" (without the quotes). Reboot and see if the problem is resolved. This fixed my Toshiba Satellite that had this problem.

Try flashing the bios by pulling the chord out attached to the "watch" battery.

SOURCE: My Toshiba Satellite A215 - S4747 won't restart

Try to do fixboot.
Boot your computer from the installation disk,Enter in to the Recovery console by pressing
"R" when prompted>type the administrator password if any or in most of the cases its Blank
so just press Enter>on command prompt type,-"fixboot">restart windows normally once done.
if "fixboot" doesn't work, follow the above steps and try "fixmbr" this time, now should be
working fine..
plz let me know if this solves your problem.
your feedback is appreciated :)

Look for a brightness up/down arrow in the F1 - F12 buttons on top of your keyboard.

Try tapping on the up arrow for brightness, also try tapping it while holding the Fn (function) key of your keyboard.

If it seems like no power is going to your screen, you may need a new screen or a computer technician to look at it. If someone you know is good at hardware, have them check the power connection before paying a store or technician.

Hey i have a toshiba satellite L305-s5933\r\nand i have white or grey screen .i am ready replaced the screen and the lcd inverter and nothing happened. can anybody help me?

This could be a problem with your video card. If you have an actual removable video card then you might try to replace it. If your video card is built onto the mother board, then you are going to be in real trouble. At that point it might not be cost effective to try to repair it. Of course, since this will likely mean purchasing a part, Toshiba would likely help you to diagnose the issue since it will lead them to a sell. Hope this helps somewhat. Best Wishes!
