My picture is distorted and blue. Do I have it on some strange setting or is there something wrong with the camera?

Thanks, Lee. I thought this might be the case. I was hoping I had somehow taped into a cool distortion program by mistake. I guess I have to dig out my warranty to see what I'm covered for. Thanks again. Denise

It sounds like there is an issue with the imaging sensor. You can try adjusting some settings and see if it changes at all. If not most likely its the imaging sensor. You can either get an estimate from panasonic, or an independent repair facility. If you need more information/assistance let me know.
Thank you,
Lee

Are you saying the lcd screen works but the pictures are just distorted or the screen doesn't work at all, even when you try to go into the menu. I think your "friend" is to blame here...your problems have nothing to do with changed settings.

Grainy pictures

grainy pictures are possibly casued by a very high ISO (sensativity) setting, you should be on 100 or lower for best normal shots. Higher settings are for low light and custom shooting in strange lighting or aperature/shutter speeds. Try full auto setting.

Find and examine the conv ICs, on their big heatsink. They may be unsoldered down at their legs, or need replacement.

Distorted color on image

You might have "color filter" settings. Turn the digital filters off. Here is what manual at p72 says. "You can take pictures using digital filters. The filters consist of color filters such as red, blue and green, a soft filter that produces a fuzzy effect. Color filters Eight colors, black-and-white, sepia, red, pink, violet, blue, green and yellow, are provided for the color filters. When you select a color filter in the Digital Filter mode, the display on the LCD monitor is filtered with the selected color, and the pictures are taken in that color."
