Prints OK on "Better" and "Best" but streaks on...

Explain this one to me. My X6170 all of a sudden started streaking and omitting about 1/2 (horizantally) of the text on about every 6th line when set to the "Draft" and "Normal" print settings. But, on "Better" and "Best" settings, it prints just fine. When I run the "clean" option, it does the same thing. Like the ink will not come out of the last 2mm of the cartridge. Any thoughts??
