Ntldr missing, trigem dreambook, windows2000 P3 600Mhz

Windows 2000 users If your computer is using Microsoft Windows 2000 and you are encountering the NTLDR error. Create the below boot.ini file on the floppy diskette drive.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
Copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files from another computer using the same operating system. Both of these files are located in the rootdirectory of the primary hard disk drive. For example, C:NTLDR andC:NTDETECT.COM should be the locations of these files on manycomputers.
  • Please keep in mind thatthese files are hidden system files, if you need additional help withviewing hidden files in Windows please see document CH000516.
Oncethese files have been copied to a floppy diskette reboot the computerand copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM files to the root directory of theprimary hard disk drive. Below is an example of what commonly should beperformed from the A:> drive.
copy ntldr c:
copy ntdetect.com c:
After the above two files have been copied, remove the floppy diskette and reboot the computer.

What is NTLDR error sir?

NTLDR (abbreviation of NT Loader) is the boot loader for all releases of Microsoft's Windows NT operating system up to and including Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. NTLDR is typically run from the primary hard disk drive, but it can also run from portable storage devices such as a CD-ROM, USB flash drive, or floppy disk. NTLDR can also load a non NT-based operating system given the appropriate boot sector in a file.
NTLDR requires, at the minimum, the following two files to be on the system volume:
  • NTLDR, which contains the main Boot loader itself
  • boot.ini, which contains configuration options for a boot menu.

This error means that NTLDR is missing somehow from your computer, hard disk problem, virus.etc
You can go to that page and follow the instructions exacty as he says and your problem will gone:)

Below is an example of what commonly should be performed from the A:\> drive. copy ntldr c: copy ntdetect.com c: After the above two files have been copied, remove the floppy diskette and reboot the computer. Windows XP users Insert the Windows XP bootable CD into the computer. When prompted to press any key to boot from the CD, press any key. Once in the Windows XP setup menu press the "R" key to repair Windows. Log into your Windows installation by pressing the "1" key and pressing enter. You will then be prompted for your administrator password, enter that password. Copy the below two files to the root directory of the primary hard disk. In the below example we are copying these files from the CD-ROM drive letter, which in this case is "e." This letter may be different on your computer. copy e:\i386\ntldr c:\ copy e:\i386\ntdetect.com c:\ Once both of these files have been successfully copied, remove the CD from the computer and reboot.

NTLDR is missing

Fixes for NTLDR Errors
  1. Restart the PC. The NTLDR error could be a fluke.

  2. Check your floppy and optical (CD/DVD) drives for media. Often times, the "NTLDR is Missing" error will appear if your PC is trying to boot to a non-bootable floppy disk or CD/DVD.

Note: If you find that this is the cause of your problem and it's happening a lot, you might want to consider changing the boot order in BIOS so the hard drive is listed first.

  3. Check the hard drive and other drive settings in BIOS and ensure they are correct. The BIOS configuration tells the computer how to use a drive so incorrect settings can cause problems, including NTLDR errors. There is usually an Auto setting for hard drive and optical drive configurations in BIOS which is usually a safe bet if you're not sure what to do.

  4. Restore the NTLDR and ntdetect.com files from the Windows XP CD. Restoring these two important system files from the original Windows XP CD may do the trick.

  5. Repair or replace the boot.ini file. This will prevent the NTLDR error if the cause of the problem is a boot.ini file that is not configured properly for your Windows XP installation.

  6. Write a new partition boot sector to the Windows XP system partition. If the partition boot sector has become corrupt or isn't properly configured, you may receive the "NTLDR is Missing" error.

  7. Repair the Windows XP master boot record. NTLDR error messages may also appear if the master boot record is corrupt.

  8. Open your computer's case and ensure that the cable that connects the hard drive to the motherboard is firmly in place. If this does not resolve the issue, try replacing the cable. NTLDR error messages could be caused by loose or malfunctioning IDE cables.

  9. Update your motherboard's BIOS. Occasionally, an outdated BIOS version can cause the "NTLDR is Missing" error.

  10. Perform a repair installation of Windows XP. This type of installation should replace any missing or corrupt files. Continue troubleshooting if this does not resolve the issue.

  11. Perform a clean installation of Windows XP. This type of installation will completely remove Windows XP from your PC and install it again from scratch. While this will almost certainly resolve any NTLDR errors, it is a time consuming process due to the fact that all of your data must be backed up and then later restored.

If you can't gain access to your files to back them up, understand that you will lose them all if you continue with a clean installation of Windows XP.

  12. Finally, if all else has failed, including the clean installation from the last step, you're most likely facing a hardware issue with your hard drive. Replace the hard drive and then perform a new installation of Windows XP.

What is NTLDR

NT Loader (NTLDR) is a small piece of software loaded from the boot sector of your primary hard drive that helps your operating system start.

If you have multiple operating systems installed and properly configured, NTLDR will show a boot menu when your PC starts, allowing you to choose which operating system to start.

Want to know the symtoms

Hi,

Often, the error message "NTLDR is missing" simply means that, the file NTLDR could not be found in the root of the C drive. Most of my experiences are with faulty memory causing this. The file is actually in the HD but will not load properly into the memory. Often, cleaning or replacing the memory addresses the issue. In some cases, it may really be true that for some reason, said file was really gone or corrupted. I have successfully copied the file NTLDR from other PCs into the HD with the problem. Of course this would require physical removal of the HD in question and installing it as an external storage device using a USB adapter to a 2nd PC. I have yet to come across a case where the entire HD is corrupt due to missing NTLDR.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Ntldr is the Operating System bootup file. To boot into Windows, Ntldr file is must..
IF you have the Operating System disk with you, do the OS repair. This will resolve your problem...............

Sometimes, OS disk might be problematic, in such cases, you need to go with another disk to reload the Operating System.
