Gateway 450sx no power

Took apart to clean dust out. when I put it back together-nothing. Tookmapart again and checked connections. Still nothing. I do get a yellowish light on the front. with ac plugged in and battery in. Took apart again and noticed modular bay latch broken(one located towards back). There was a little piece that was attached to spring . I pushed it in and it booted up. Put back together and nothing. the piece has come out .

Needs physical repair. No help without some new parts. The "little piece" latch is necessary. The bay thinks there is a device there and there isn't. The POST (Power On Self Test) program won't allow it to startup if a device is missing.

You probably need a new modular bay. The piece that you pushed in that made it boot up is the safety "latch" that is keeping the machine from booting up. Most of the modular bays are soldered into the mother board...time to get some professional help at a shop that does these repairs or buy a new laptop. You really can't just buy the one part. Sorry.

Key popped out on Gateway 450SX Laptop. Nothing Broken. How do I pu it back on. Thanks.

First make sure to remove any dust or debris from the keyboard. Align the key in the proper place on the keyboard and gently push down to see it it will snap back in place. You may have to gently wiggle the key as you press down. If the key will not stay in place you may have to replace the whole keyboard. Another alternative would be to purchase an external USB keyboard or a wireless keyboard. Good Luck!

Lights on, no display, doesn't boot

had similar problem on sony vaio. when power depressed, i could hear the cd drive turn a bit, the hard drive light blink once, and that's it. power light would remain on, but nothing else. I took it apart and resoldered all the main chasis grounds on the motherboard and shorted/resetted the board battery(memory/clock) and put everything back together and started up fine. got lucky i guess.

My Gateway 7330 works now, but the power button doesn't

If you go to where the start button connects to the computer mother board and disconnect it. YOu can put a screwdriver across the two spikes coming from the board and it should start. That wil confirm that it is not a board problem.Next get a small battery test light ,or ohm meter and  hook to the two wires from the switch. Press the switch. If it lights that everything is ok. If not you are down to the wires or the switch. Disconnect the wires for the bvack of the switch and test the switch with the light again w/o the wires. Works now=bad wires or connection. Does not work=bad switch.

Gateway MX7315 Will not power up.

Check the connection between your the power bezel (the plastic piece with the power button) and the motherboard. This has a tendency to come loose whenever you take laptops apart.

Toshiba Equium M50-192 Blank Screen when Boot

This sounds to be an issue with the processor. Try removing the processor, blowing it off, and reseating it firmly and properly. Put it back together and see if this cures it. Keep in mind that a malfunctioning processor can cause an overheating problem just as easily as a fan or heatsink.
