I have an acer p241w it wont turn on at all, it was on and we had a power outage and now the power is back on it won't turn on, i think it might've popped a fuse or something on the board but i can't figure out how to open the monitor up to look at it, there are no screws and i don't wanna mess this thing up trying to pry the back of it off, any help would be appreceated

I have eliminated everything, it is certainly from the monitor the graphics card works fine i plugged in another monitor and used the same power cord and it works fine, so i kno it is the monitor im farel certain itis a fuse, or i hae also red thepowerttons dont work sometimes. no lights come on at all when i plug it in, and hanks to that poweroutage im farely certain it is just a fuse, i am a farely handy guy when it comes to electronics, im just not sure how to get this monitor apart, seams it has to be pryed apart but i don't wanna break it.

is there a place i can buy a switch board for it? I can install it myself, i looked at it and did'nt see any bad solder joints or capacitors or anything, but i'll look again, any website that sells these boards would be appreciated!

I think you have a power supply unit that went bad and needs to be checked out. You need to have a service adjustment done by your Service Tech. You just can't fix the power supply unit without clearing the buffers, and all the other procedures needed to fix this monitor.

    Thank you!

1 . OK so your monitor will not turn on but your computer seems to be running just fine, this is something we have all come across at least once. So first thing you check is to make sure that the power cable behind the monitor is inserted all the way, as in its not loose. If you have checked and it is connected and your sure that power is running to it, then we move on to the next step.

2 . If your monitor shows a light whether green or any other color then power is going to your monitor, so then we grab a laptop or another desktop if there is one available, and try to connect the monitor to the desktop if it does the same thing on the other desktop or laptop, then we can assume it is your monitor.

3 . If however on the other desktop you do see an image, then it means your video card from the original desktop computer is not working and you need to replace it.

4 . If you don't have a laptop or another desktop computer available, then you can check by turning on your computer and if you see that the monitor sounds like its turning on and a green light turns on then turns orange, its more than likely your video card, if it just stays orange and never turns green, or makes a sound of it turning on, then its your monitor.

Hope this has been helpful in some way.
Thanks for using Fixya.

If there is crackling sound then please get your switch board checked there might be a problem in the switch board.
There might be lose connections as well , so please get it checked.

    Thanks.

Suggestion take a look on the body of the old power supply and write down the voltage and amperage millie-amps or what ever and if you have some old power supplies from an old phone or what ever, match the values of it to your old power supply you might get lucky.

WE HAD A POWER OUTAGE.NOW MY KEURIG WONT TURN ON. CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THANK YOU.

Hi,first you need to check if fuse has not been blown out.Because when POWER comes back after an outage there is a surge voltage flowing through electrical lines. It is advisable that when their is a POWER outage you have to turn off your FUSE box or SAFETY box to make sure that it won'tdamage appliances when POWER comes back>Technically when POWER SOURCE or SUPPLY has been shut off for a period of time. When POWER is back, expectantly there is an abnormal flow of current/line; current will not be as stable until a period of time..AC current behaves like a wave, values changes from time to time especially when POWER SOURCE has just been TURNED ON..So better turn off FUSE BOX when experiencing POWER OUTAGE so that when power comes back SURGE VOLTAGE wont flow within the circuit>Hope this helps..

Comes on for second with picture and goes black. turn off and back on will do same thing.

Sounds like it is probably the inverter board. You can find one on eBay, they are usually the problem, not the backlight or screen. Simple change usually and you are good to go. Very inexpensive too, search ebay for inverter board acer P241W, or I have gone to laptopaid.com too.
