Perform a head cleaning by opening up your printer in "Devices and Printers." Click on the start menu, and then click on the "Devices and Printers" option located in the bottom right corner of the start menu panel. Right-click on the printer that is giving you trouble to bring up the printer properties.
Click "Troubleshoot" on the pop-up menu to start up Windows automatic troubleshooting. The troubleshooting program wizard will run and ask you a couple of questions about your problem. Complete the troubleshooter, and then print another page and check it to see if any lines appear.
Check your task bar for any printing software that will show you the ink levels. Check the indicators on the printer as well to make sure the ink isn't running low. If the ink is running low, replace the ink cartridges based on the user manual provided with the printer.
Clean the print head of the cartridge by removing the ink cartridge and taking a corner of the cloth and dabbing it in alcohol. Run the cloth over the ink deposit point found in the lower bottom region of the print cartridge. Allow the cartridge to air dry before reinserting it into the printer.
Check the printer for any paper jams, and run a nozzle check and cleaning from the printer. The printer has menu buttons and features with which you can manually perform much of the maintenance that is required to keep it running at top-notch levels.
