I had a similar problem but I can't recall if it was the same error number as in your message---what I did was used the recovery console and re-wrote my master boot record (MBR) my error was in the MBR causing my computer not to boot up in the first place. Your bootable cd should give you an option to use the recovery console before you reinstall, take it and use "fixmbr" at your dos prompt. XP works like that, but I've never had that problem with vista's worth a try if vista does the same.

Try reinstalling your windows. If you get an error on install the problem is probably in your hard drive, in which case you'll have to replace your hard drive and reinstall your windows. I really don't think it's a hard drive issue though. Sounds more like a registry issue but the easiest fix is to reinstall windows. Good Luck.

My laptop is driving me nuts it will boost thru post but when it starts green bar in windows vista a blue screen flashes up with this code stop:oxoooooo7b (ox8o2o3bao,oxcooooo34,oxoooooooo,oxoooooooo)...

I got you man.. follow these directions and you should be good to go..

you need to run a nifty little program called Spinrite on your laptop. You can download it via BitTorrent2.gif HERE

you will need to use a program to burn the ISO image2.gif onto disk and make it bootable. I use PowerISO . It is very easy and straight forward. You can download it HERE (use the name: Dr.Upload
serial: SKSIP-7AIX1-8YWEZ-U197K-T88IE ) to remove restrictions.

Open the iso file2.gif using PowerISO. Now we have to make it a bootable disk image2.gif. Spinrite comes with FREEDOS instaled, but most laptops don't like using it.
Follow directions here on making a bootable image.

after burning your disk boot your system up with the cd. when you get to a prompt , ie C:\\ you will need to change it to your default cd drive mine is E:
after changing the drive letter type SPINRITE
the program will start - follow onscreen directions and change scan level to 5. after program finishes reboot after removing disk.

should start up and run like a new machine.

Blue screen appear when formatting...and this number appear: stop:oxoooooo7B(oxF78D2524, oxoooooo34, oxoooooooo, oxoooooooo

Have you added any hardware since it last worked OK such as RAM or changed the HD? If so take it out and try again. Have you changed any BIOS settings? If so set them back to how they were and try again?

Did the system crash and you are trying to reformat it? If so you may have an HD or HD Controller problem.

Does your system boot from the Op Sys CD / DVD? If so leave it doing nothing for up to 60 mins to make sure the system is not overheating. If it crashes while you are doing nothing then it could be any number of problems but most likely are RAM problems, CPU problems and HD problems. You could try downloading a copy of PCHealth or SiSoft Sandra to try out and diagnose the system to see if it reports any issues.

Failing all that then take it to a repoair shop for an estimate!
