I hold (MENU) and (A<->B/o) buttons and my mp3 shuts down.
Actually manual says that it resets this way.
This saved me hours of waiting for the battery to die....

The trouble is that samsung media studio or indeed windows explorer seem to lose track of the files so that the machine gets fuller and it's imposible to erase them. The solution is to erase the main folders (datacasts, music, photo, etc) using explorer. That gets rid of all the files and the main folders magically reappear (must be in the firmware....)

Vegggie Boy is mistaken. You should press and hold the red record button while pressing the menu button. The player will reset itself to normal operational mode.
