Question about Lexmark X2500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have LEXMARK black # 28 and color # 29 but they are return cartridges I do NOT want to get cartridges from LEXMARK through the mail. What other STORE brands are compatable to LEXMARK X2500.If not allowed to use store brands compatable to X2500 I will destroy it and buy an all in one printer( NOT LEXMARK) and NEVER have to deal with LEXMARK again. Everyone I know has this same PROBLEM with LEXMARK.They do NOT fill refills and printer stops printing ink after certain time. You lose your ink balance and get screwed on new refill because they do NOT FILL them all the way.PLUS they charge way too much compaired to other printers. Thank you for any help.Helen

Www PrinterFillingStation com Printer ink and Refill kits for your Printer
Try refilling them yourself, just do not let them run out and you have to push the reset button once to restart after it says they are empty

Hard to tell...There are other issues which could contribute related to the printer itself, etc.

But I will say in my experience often refill kits for ink cartridges don't work if you allow them the cartridge to run bone dry. Maybe the internal components become hard and won't re saturate with new ink, not sure. If new cartridges work; and the refills don't I'd say there may be a problem with them.

Yes, there are kits available on the market that help you do that. But honestly, i wouldn't recommend doing that, as they only tend to screw up the printer in the long run. Moreover, printers these days have sensors that detect refilled or 3rd party cartridges, and will not work properly. This is being done by the printer manufacturers to prevent people from using cartridges other than their own....

Have a lexmark x5495 and have new cartridges. when printer is turned on, message states left cartridge incorrect.

Make sure that you are inserting genuine Lexmark cartridges and the correct versions for your model. The Lexmark X5495 takes 28/34 black or 29/35 color cartridges.
Try to re-insert your left cartridge and make sure it is properly seated in the carrier.
You can also try to reinsert your old left cartridge to determine if it's a faulty cartridge issue.

Changing ink cartridge

  • Here is an instruction set I found at http://www.ehow.com/how_4488808_replace-ink-cartridges-lexmark-x2500.html
  • Step 1 Press the "Power" button to turn on your Lexmark X2500 3-in-1 printer.
  • Step 2 Open the top portion of the printer to reveal the ink cartridges.
  • Step 3 Lift the gray plastic cover on the left. Remove the empty black #28 ink cartridge. Next, lift the purple plastic cover on the right and remove the empty color #29 ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Remove the new black #28 ink refill cartridge from its packaging. Tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor. Now, remove the new color #29 ink refill cartridge from its packaging and tear the protective strip of paper from the cartridge's sensor.
  • Step 5 Turn the cartridges so that you can read the label. This is the way the cartridges should face when being put into the printer.
  • Step 6 Slide the black #28 cartridge into the slot on the left side and push it down. Slide the color #29 cartridge into the slot on the right side and push down.
  • Step 7 Push the gray plastic cover down over the #28 cartridge until it clicks closed. Push the purple plastic cover down over the #29 cartridge until it clicks closed.
  • Step 8 Close the top portion of the printer. Your new ink cartridges are installed, and your printer is ready to use.

    Using refill cartridges

That is because they cannot e refilled. The ones you get with your printer ( 28 & 29) are what Lexmark calls "return program cartridges", which means they are for one use only.
I suggest you buy other cartridges that can be refilled. Those are either 28A or 34 (black cartridge) and 29A or 35 (color cartridge).
Here is a link to Lexmark's site, where you can see the list of cartridges that are compatible with your printer.

    Hope that helps!
