Your description of the problem means that the current is reaching the fridge but thats all. Either the wiring is faulty or the compressor is disconnected. Either way, you have to call the help as such matters are best handled by them.
Also there is a rotatory switch that controls the temp (the rheostat). If you turn it anti clock wise then it can also switch off the fridge. The lights will come on but the compressor will not run. Just like you have now. So please check this rheostat.

Frig buzzing even when it's unplugged

I have encountered numerous issues like this one. Normally, when you unplug a refrigerator, all mechanical noises should cease operating. A buzzing sound may be emanating from some other appliance, clock, or other product in close proximity, transmitting a frequency toward your unit. Basically if there is no power supplied to the unit, it virtually can make no noise.

Refrigerator not cooling-freezer section icing up

Refrigerator not cooling, ice forming on back of side-by-side freezer:
Turn off unit. Empty freezer section. Remove freezer back panel (4 screws) to expose iced-over coils. Use a fan to speed up defrosting. Put a towel or a plastic drip pan in the bottom of the freezer to collect melting water (rather than letting the water collect and maybe overflowing in the drip pan underneath the refrigerator).
After defrosting, by temporarily replacing the freezer back panel and turning on the unit, the refrigerator may operate OK for about 3 weeks before the next excessive ice build up.
Possible problem- a burned out Defrost Heater.
To check: After defrosting, turn off power to or unplug the refrigerator.
Unscrew the Defrost Heater bracket (2 screws). When loose, unplug the two wires connected to the unit. Have the unit checked, or use an ohm-meter to check continuity. If unit measures "open", high resistance, replace the Defrost Heater and bracket. If the heating element shows continuity (or low resistance) the heater is probably OK and you have another problem. Now you may need to contact a repair man.

Hotpoint F1810p not functioning after ice buildup

Normally when there is a frost build up, the defrost timer is not working properly. The fridge will not run when in defrost. Some of the newer refrigerators have printed circuit boards that control the operation. Most older units have a separate timer that controls the defrost cycle.

When the defrost timer on your self defrosting unit closes, it shuts down the operation of the compressor and the evaporator fan in freezer compartment while the defrost heating element under the evaporator gets turned on to defrost the ice buildup in freezer. A defrost thermostat attached to the evaporator coil will turn off the defrost heating element if it gets too warm. Then when the defrost timer opens, the compressor and evaporator fan get turned back on for normal cooling cycles via the thermostat.. The defrost cycle lasts about a half an hour and repeats itself every 8 to 10 hours.

By the very nature of its operation you can see that in a self defrosting refrigerator, freezer temps are subject to a rather large fluctuation every time the self defroster goes on. Ergo, frozen food in such a unit will not keep for as long as in a commercial refrigerator or chest type freezer where such a circuit does not exist, temps are constantly low, and food lasts longer. And of couse, when the freezer temps go up as a result of the heater operation it follows that refrigerator temps will also go up since cold freezer air is no longer being funnel to fridge compartment. But since the refrig temps were never as low as those of the freezer, the temp variation during the defrost cycle will be considerably smaller.

If the self defrost mechanism is not working in accordance with the description above then maybe something is wrong with the control board if you have one on your unit.

Will not defrost. Frosts up but not defrost properly.

The air intake filter may need cleaning. If it's dirty or clogged the unit has to strain to keep up. Also, if you're operating it in an area that's below 40 degrees, they have a tendency to frost over.

Turn the Master ON/OFF Control to OFF and unplug the unit. Allow it to thoroughly thaw. After it has thawed, remove the filter and clean it if necessary. It's also a good idea to access the refrigerant coils to wipe and clean them. After they're clean and dry, a light coating of WD40 would be an advantage.
Then, reassemble the humidifier's cabinet, plug it in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set your humidity level about mid range (45%) and allow the unit to run for at least 1/2 hour before raising or lowering the humidity range.

Routine maintenance is important and will usually solve the problem. I hope that's the case for your dehumidifier.

You have a problem with the ADC.

Frigidaire has also jumped into the market with an adaptive defrost board. The fresh food section light switch and light bulb must work. To initiate a defrost cycle, open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds. The compressor and fans should shut off and the defrost heater should come on. Open the door and push the light switch in and out 5 times within 6 seconds to remove the refrigerator from the defrost mode and back into a cooling mode.

This product comes equipped with an Adaptive Defrost Control (ADC). To activate manual defrost, press and hold the Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. A "d" in the freezer temperature window and "F" in the refrigerator temperature window will display when the heater is activated. To deactivate manual defrost, press and hold Freezer temperature UP (WARMER) key while pressing the Fresh Food temperature DOWN (COLDER) key 5 times within 6 seconds. "d" and "F" will be displayed until the defrost cycle is complete. (approx. 8 minutes)

Whirlpool stopped blowing cool air. Unplugged

It sounds as if your defrost timer has failed. Unplugging the unit over night allowed the unit to defrost. If unplugging it overnight or by using a stnd fan blowing into the freezer section for 90 minutes results in the fan blowing cold air then your unit is not defrosting. Most often the defrost timer is the problem. However there could be other defrost circuit like the thermostat or the defrost element. In order to provide you with the correct solution and defrost timer location you should privde your model number for further instructions.

Frigidaire Gallery FRS26ZGEB - 12 years old

you have a defrost problem or damper problem or evapator fan

1) Check the fan in the freezer is running

2) defrost the freezer (leave unpluged with door open for 24 to 48 hrs or untill it stops leaking water...

3) check the damper make sure it is opening and cold air is blowing

How you need to repair what defrost part failed
The defrost systems is:
5303917954 TIMER-DEFROST

Start with the timer. It is just under the front kick plate. there is a knob you can turn it slowly.until it clicks off the compressor. then open the freezer and listen . You should hear the heater come on .. it will sizzle when it comes on ...
You will have to remove the back panel of the freezer to check the heater for and thermostat for continuity. Heater are the lease likely part to go bad... I always change thermostat and timers together.
let me know if this helps or we can chat if you need more help.
