I have a Kitchenaid Superba side by side refrigerator model KSRS27QGBL01. It was manufactured in 1998. I was going to use it as a second frig in the garage but was concerned about energy usage. I didn't see anything in the frig saying it was energy saver . . . wasn't even sure if they made energy savers in 1998. Any ideas on this? I don't want to use it if it is going to be a heavy cost on my electric bill. Thanks for your help.

SOURCE: KitchenAid Superba ice maker not dispensing ice

this is not a solution, but an explanation- our repair man said that there is a line (tube) containing electric wires that passes from the frig to the door at the bottom of the door, near the hinge. for what ever reason, the line has broken, thus keeping the electric from getting to the motor that dispense ice and water- solution= $700 for a new door; we'll do without

SOURCE: Door doesn't self close on Kitchenaid Superba frig

The lower hinge on each door may have a door closing cam. It raises the door up ¼ inch when opening and this assist in closing the door. If it’s wore out and doesn’t work the door may not seal and the gasket can be damaged. Watch the operation of the door to see if it rises up when opened.

Leave the door shut and let the magnetic gasket hold the door in place. Put something between the bottom of the door and the floor to hold it in case it slips.
Remove the bracket holding the pin and hinge assembly taking note of order of removal of parts. Slide new cams on. You probably need two.

Water dispenser doesn't work

I have the same problem with a 2002 model. Icemaker working but no ice or water comes out the door dispenser. Also the light in the door is not working (i.e. no electricity getting to the door.)

Just had a service call. They told me that the whole door needs to be replaced because the wires that power the door are broken from normal opening and closing of the door. $1500 repair!!!!!!!

(KitchenAid did a POOR design with this frig. Open your freezer door and look toward the floor. On the left side, you will see a rope-like thing coming from the freezer to the door. Everytime this door gets open and closed, it crimps the wires... and thus, eventually they break.) The newer models have concealed wiring.

Two of my neighbors had the same problem with this frig a few years ago and KitchenAid replaced the door at no charge. I just spoke with KitchenAid. At first they told me that I was out of warranty. When I told them this is an obvious design flaw, they told me they would give me the new door since I have 3 other registered KitchenAid products. I have to pay for the repair service, which will be about $200 plus the $75 service call I had today. Better than buying a new frig.. but still frustrating because of the design flaw.

Over temperature alarm on KitchenAid Superba Refrigerator

Remove the screws from the bottom grill cover. Use a vac brush to clean out that area. You should also pull the frig out from the cabinet and vac behind.

Also, you can go on kitchenaid.com and download a product manual to replace your lost manual. Click on customer care and select "Locate Manuals & Guides."
