SOURCE: New ECS 915G-M Motherboard Problem

Hi, first check if you have a red or green ready led light on somewhere on the mobo. then check if you have the cables from the front of the case attached to the correct pins on the board. your board documentation will tell you which pins and the case cables are marked as to which ones they are. regards mistyman

SOURCE: One problem, followed by another, followed by another

it seams that the motherboard has some power problems. Check on the motherboard for burned or blackened components, or for capacitors that are looking like they are going to blow (inflated on the top), u can do the same to the power supply.
If so change it !
Also maybe the power of the house has problems that the computers power supply cant handle (that can ruin the motherboard or other components )
U can also try to isolate the motherboard from the case (there might be a short between the motherboard and the power supply through the case metal ... )

Hello the homepage is here:

3 short beeps: base 64 k ram failure.

If you've recently added or tried to add additional memory to the computer and have started getting these beeps. Remove all new memory you've added to the computer. If the computer works fine after removing the new memory you're encountering either an incompatibility or defective new memory.

Read more here:

Beep codes:

The fault could also be: power supply, or bad capacitors on the mainboard.

Good luck

My Pavillion a636n hangs at the blue HP Invent screen when trying to boot. The disk access light is on continuously at this stage. Is this liekly to be a problem with the motherboard or something else?

Not certain from here, but I would guess harddrive or disk controller.. Have you tried going into BIOS and setting to boot from CD. Place your OS disk in CD drive and boot from it. Then attempt a repair on OS. Another thing... you could have the system BIOS search for the harddrive. If it cannot find one, that perhaps is your problem. What do the boot screens tell you? I hope this helps you get a clue what might be happening. Oh, do you get any beeps when the PC first posts? How many?

Plugged computer back in after move and won't start. green light in mb on.

Actually, there is nothing you can do with the hard drive. If its shorting out the power supply when its pugged in then it is defective. However, most hard drives carry a 3 year warranty from the manufacture. If the drive is younger then 3 years old, I would call the manufacture and get it repaired or replace. Hope this helps . . .

Powers on but show no post

Have you checked the connections from MB to LCD screen have you tried hooking it up to a second monitor it should have a connector on back of laptop for that so you could at least see post. If it beeps and no screen maybe memory sticks to check, also do you have a harddrive or maybe even a usb drive to try it with?
If hard drive failed it should say that or no operating system when booting up.

Dell Inspiron 2650 Boot problem

Hey, Ive had a few laptops with similiar problems. If there are no beeps then most likely there is a problem in the motherboard.

You could try removeing extra hardware like the cd/dvd drive and try to start up again but most likely the motherboard would need to be replaced.

In most cases the price comes near the price of a new laptop so it might be better to buy a new one.

You can remove your harddrive and buy a converter to connect it into your desktop pc or to your replacement laptop. to save your files.

If you need more asistance, let me know.
Good luck!

Stops booting

Did you remove the components that you upgraded, and try adding them back one by one?

Will it give you a POST screen?

Does it Beep at boot time? If it is noisy try moving it to another room.

Describe the original components and then the ones that you upgraded in detail. This will allow us to better troubleshoot the problem.

EliteGroup GeForce 6100Sm-M Problem

4 things can cause this MB to do as you mention.
Bad CPU or the MB is not sensing the CPU fan and is protecting CPU from overheating.
Bad or inconpatible memory, If multiple sticks use only 1 at a time, This MB is known for having problems with both slots filled most of the time bios resaves can fix this but just set up with 1 first.
Reset the bios, Make sure the reset jumper is set back correctly.
Make sure it post without any extra harware hooked up first then add them.

The beeps are a old style of signaling the problem, You can find charts online that will tell you what the beeps mean long and short.

If you cangatehr this much of information you are no less than a computer engineer. Nobody needs to build a car to change its tyre. If you arrange a spare HDD and RAM, remove the original HDD and try to install windows on that. And if problem persists do the same with RAM also. I am sure you could solve this problem yourslef.

3 long beeps with my Elitegroup ECS Green 320 laptop

Let's start with the most overlooked reason. Sounds like the battery died. Is your laptop's battery fully charged. Plug it in over night and give it a good chance to recharge the battery. Then turn on your laptop WITH the power cable attached. Did this solve your problem? If not we'll go to the next step.
