Right hand hinge is broke dell inspiron 1318

The only people who have the hinge is Dell themselves. I've checked all over. The only parts available are the Center Console Cover & The Back Cover. If the hinge itself is broken, then you will have to send it to DELL. They'll tell you that the whole screen needs to be fixed- just to hike up the price of repair. If you want, you can buy the back cover, which for the most part, will cover the exposed wires on the hinge, but the front of the hinge will still be exposed. What I would love to find is a metal hinge for the DELL Inspiron 1318, like that found in the Dell Studio XPS version. The plastic hinges only guarantee that we will remain loyal customers. Sorry if this didn't help much.

Broken Inspiron 1525 Lid

hello

To fix your laptop follow the steps given below.
  • First of all as your hinges are broken you have to buy a pair of hinges for your laptop model.
  • This hinge includes the whole assembly made up of metal with a part which attaches your screen to the laptop.
  • Now you have to open up your laptop from the backside and disassemble the upper side.
  • This will make you see the part which detaches tour screen from the laptop.Just remove the screws and your screen will be completely detached.
  • now you can replace the damaged hinges with the new one.
  • you have to remove four screws for one hinge. Two screws supporting the screen and two attaches the screen with the laptop.
  • so remove these screws and replace the hinges and pack the laptop again.
And the lines are basically due to the movement of loose connector. So while fixing please fix the connector also.

Thank you

Broken hinge

I'd be frustrated as well. Fortunately, your Inspiron is still under warranty - contact Dell. They may send a tech to fix, or you may need to send back the laptop to them to be fixed.

Right hinge coming apart

Maybe.
This is a normal wear and tear issue with Dell lappys.
You can take off the hinge cover (it's just above the keyboard) and attempt to tighten the hinges down.
If that doesn't work, then the hinges themselves are wearing out, and need to be replaced, so you'd have to contact dell in that case buddy.
To remove the hinge cover, find where there is a small notch or space to the right of it and put a VERY small screwdriver in that notch and pry it up. (MAKE SURE that your LCD panel is completely flat aka. completely open when doing this).
Once it pops out (it takes a little muscle, don't worry it's made of plastic it shouldn't break) then you can keep prying it up until it all just pops out. Now using a phillips small screwdriver (cross head) tighten the hinges (they'll be easy to see along with their screws).
Then, simply replace the hinge cover the same way it came off, put it into the laptop at an angle upwards going into the left side this time, and then just begin to press it downwards until it pops into place. Do this all along the hinge cover from left to right this time.
There! hopefully that helps, but even if it does the hinges will NEED replacing, the dell ones are cheap, and eventually do need to be replaced.

No audio on inspiron 700m

This is what I posted on Yahoo answers in reply to this problem a few months ago

It may be that the speaker wires themselves are cut. The 700m's have a problem with the hinge for the monitor cutting the wires to the speakers due to their placement. You can check out this link:

http://www.lukemiller.org/journal/2006/0...

That details the problems, along with pictures and a nice guide on how to fix it. It's easy to check... if you look at the top of the keyboard, you see the Dell logo, and just to the left of that is a place for a small flathead screwdriver. Pry that up (carefully, and it must be done with the screen completely opened so it is 180 degrees). The wires are tiny black and white, 4 of them, in the right hand hinge. If they are cut that's your problem.

If you call Dell they will tell you that you have to buy a whole LCD kit (~$500) because that's the only way you can get the speakers. But you can usually find them on Ebay (I did) for about $25-30 used. Check out that link for how to do it.

As far as the power, I would check first that the battery is fully and properly seated, otherwise wouldn't know what to tell you there.

Cheers

Loose hinges

Hi,

I met this problem almost all brands of laptops. Depending on how the hinges being built (return spring, embedded lock notch, etc.) Some are easy to adjust and some need more precise tightenings due to wear and tear of the lock notch. However you can buy hinges too at ebay just specify the brand and models as well as the LCD screen part no. replacement. Hope this gives you hint.

Best regards,
Rosener
