Disconnect the on /off switch that is how it gets grounded so that it will shut off may be a bad switch disconnecting it will allow it to start.

Echo cs-3400 wont start . no spark. what are the primary and secondary coil readings?

if you have no spark

check for faulty plug 1st, then pull kill wire off at kill switch, then check for grounding ht lead ,
then pull kill wire off at armature , if still no spark most likley faulty ignition armature
i suspect the part number you need if its type 1 is 15662639130
replace it and set air gap and reassemble and test

here is web site for parts

or you could try , go to echo saws , then find your model

cheers hope it helps

Ttr 50. No spark with spark plug grounded, plenty of spark when NOT grounded...

sounds like you have a wiring problem, get a ohm meter and check stator wires, pickup coil wires, ign coil wires, see if they are reading what they are supposed to you can go to to find this info out or check with local yamaha dealer for the readings, make sure your ign coil is grounded good..

Husqvarna 51 had no spark, installed new ign. coil, have spark at plug when removed and grounded but fails to fire at all when primed.

I would drip a little fuel into the head directly. If that does not fire you may want to consider hoter plug, consult Husky.

Engine turns over won't start. There is no spark

Poss saftey interlock switch failure. Bad ign coil or the harness has shorted to ground Unplug the kill wire from the coil and if fire "spark" returns then u know your coil is good. Hope this helps

1987 Honda shadow vt1100c no spark at any plug

The voltage on the coils is present except at the instant of firing. The interruption of the voltage is what causes the coil to fire. The cdi box is what causes the voltage interruption.
The interruption is very hard to detect. You are not the first to be stymied by that box. If you have access to an oscilloscope, I think you can see the pulse if it occurs.

Four things I can think of:
1) There is a short in your spark plug wire. When you bend it to connect the plug in the machine it allows the exposed cable to contact the engine block. Examine the wire all the way to the coil.

2) Flywheel key is sheared ( you obviously know how to take off the flywheel since you checked the seals).

3) Flywheel air gap is not set correctly. Loosen the coil. Put the cover of a notebook or the cardboard piece of a cigarette pack between the magnetic portion of the flywheel and the coil. Tighten the coil down. This will get you the proper gap.

4) Your cylinder/piston or rings are scrubbed out. Even though it passed a compression test, on rare occasions it will loose compression only when it fires. So do the following:

Remove your exhaust manifold. Look into the cylinder with a flash light. You are looking for scratches. Anything larger then a light fingernail is definite proof you need a new cylinder/piston assy.

If it passes that test do the following:

Pour mixed fuel straight into your cylinder until 1/4 full. Slowly pull your saw over while looking into the cylinder. If you see bubbles after the ring/rings go by then you need a new cylinder/piston assy. On rare occasions if no scratches are present on the cylinder wall or piston, you may be able to change just the rings.

First if you can get a inline spark tester so you can see if your getting spark with the plug installed.

Poulan Pro 42 chainsaw will not start

I had the same problem on a P3416 saw. I had a new Champion plug and coil installed. I tested the plug by removing it and plugging it in the coil wire and ground the end of the plug on the engine block. It did not spark so I bought another plug. This one fired but it was real weak so I loosen the coil and slipped a piece of light folder paper between the coil and magnets and tighten the bolts. Got a better spark and got it to run.
