To find out you need to cut away the white cover to see where the leak is coming from. This white cover is just cosmetic.

If the leak is on the connection where the supply line comes in, then is usually can be fixed.

If the leak is on the metal of the tank below the connection, then there is no fixing it. The metal just below the white plastic is part of the tank.

If the leak is on the connection, it can all be replaced. I recommend replacing the nipple going into the water heater with a 3/4" x 3" brass nipple. From there I recommend using a 3/4" x 3/4" x 18"-24" copper water heater flex. This assuming that you have a flex line installed now. If not I still recommend the brass nipple and the copper flex, but you can get a 3/4" Sharkbite Male adapter to adapt to copper pipe. (Use this fitting instead of having to solder. This fitting is found at Home Depot and Lowes. Be sure not to have any burrs on the copper pipe, because Sharkbites use an O'ring which can be damaged by any burrs.)

If you have a different plumbing installation, please contact me.

I am not sure that it can be fixed. They don't really make them to last anymore. It really should be replaced because if it is rusted or weak there it can suddenly rupture and flood the whole house. You would not believe the damage this can cause as most floor drains become plugged up very quickly. Homeowners insurance doesn't cover this very well.

Repair a cold water leak at the bottom of my water heater

Hi -

If your water heater is working (ie: making hot water) then most likely your heater isn't leaking. Rather, the leak is coming from the cold water supply and running down the tank where you see it at the bottom of the tank. A working tank that is leaking would produce a leak of hot water - not cold. You should carefully check the cold water piping for a leak, drip or stream of water and make the required repairs.

I have a new Bradford white 40 gallon gas hot water heater. There are no single handle faucets. The hot water fluctuates between hot and cold. When I close both inlet and outlet shut off for the hot water...

Sounds like water leak.
For example, broken pipe... or water running out of TP valve.
That would explain variable hot-and-cold water at tap.
Turn off all taps, and observe if water meter is registering water usage.

You could start by seeing if the thermostat is wide open. Sounds like it is on low or vacay mode. How far is the run between your heater and the bathing area. Might need to insualet some piping.

Sunbeam hot/cold water dispenser is leaking from looks like copper tubing that goes to tank. Model # ylr-5-87h3 what could my problem be

Broken solder connection.
Continual expansion and contraction of metal due to hot and cold extremes will cause metal fatigue. The most vulnerable place is at the join. Other places can fail, but usually the solder join will fail first.
Buy another one and support economy.
Make sure next unit is connected to cold water line, and not hot water line. If hot water dispenser is connected to Hot line, then it will cause water heater to run each time water is drawn through dispenser because cold water immediately enters tank.

You might also consider installing small tank under counter. Tanks are less glamorous than hot water dispensers but tanks are more reliable long term than instantaneous water heaters.

My Bristan Meridian Show start ok with hot water then after a few minutes the water runs cold. Even if you try and increase the temp it still remains cold. You can switch of the shower and start again...

It sounds like 1 of 2 things to me. I will start wit hot water heater. The first test for the water heater is to have someone run the hot water while you hold the hot and cold pipes and see if the water is coming out of the water heater cold when the shower goes cold. Of the water heater is cold coming out then the problem is in the heater. ether a lower element is bad or the dip tube is broken at the top of the tank. if the hot water heater continues to put out hot water when the shower goes cold then it has to be the mixing valve for the hot and cold mix at the shower and that valve will have to be repaired or replaced. hope this gives you a good start. let me know if I can help further.

My water heater is leaking a lot. water comes from the down bellow. It started like three months ago but it is getting worst Do I need to replace it? how much it will cost a similar one?

It sounds like you need to replace it, Actual cost can very widrly depending on your location but I would say $350-400 is probably close. Plus installation unless you can do it yourself. Hope this helps. Thanks

Atwood rv water heater model G6A-8E heats water to warm only then run cold

Normal causes for that would be by-pass valve not in proper position, or defective, allowing cold to mix with hot, or thermostat not touching up against tank properly, or defective. Do you know where that thermostat is?
Look where the black foam cover is, with white letters, below pressure relief valve. One is lettered ECO, other THERM. If you note where the wires go, so as not to mix them up , and pull them off, then peel back the foam cover, you'll see 2 little round discs, that are held against the tank by a small spring. They need to be checked that they are in there properly and are up against the aluminum tank.

Dishwasher probs

It sounds like you have eithwer a low water problem (ie..Clogged inlet valve ) or your heater inside the unit is bad are they drying ok one other thing to do is run the hot water at the sink first to make sure the cold that is in the lines from the water heater is not filling in the unit try those things first
