Sometimes the chamber between the grinder and brewer will clog up. Try: Open the grind all the way up to the highest number. Push the grind button and while grinding move the dose knob (the one with the + - sign toward minus. If it does not kick in and dose try it again. If it does take off then leave it on the high number for 3 coffees. Then while the grinder is turning move the two knobs back to whre they were. If this does not work you can reomve the brew unit and right above where it sits in the machine there is a trap door that you can open. Open it and shove someting like a straw up toward the grinder and you should get a bunch of grounds droppiing down. Then try the above procedure a couple more times. If this does not work you may need to google "Saeco repair" and send it to an authorized repair center.

SOURCE: Coffee beans will not grind
Your machine will probably need service. The water will cause damage to the grinder burrs. I can send you instruction on how to clean out the grinder on a Vienna if you provide me will your email address. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. You are not the first person to do this. These problems come in at least once a week. Hope this helps. Johnny

It is possible that the grinds chute is blocked, remove the brew unit and check the chute from the grinder chamber, make sure that it is not blocked with coffee grounds.

Yes, you can purchase just the hopper assembly for around $10 directly from Cuisinart. Here's a link to their web site and the parts page for grinders.
I would also give them a call, as they are pretty well known for excellent customer service and you might get the replacement part for free, if you're still within the warranty or close to it. Give them a call using their contact page, as I'm not sure if you're in the USA or somewhere else in the world.
US Customers can call 1-800-726-0190
Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

I have had the same problem the only way I could get it to brew would to use the program quantity feature every time. I was going to take it in today and decided to restore the factory settings and now its working like it should. This seems to be a circuit board issue Ouch! I have another issue with the steam, if I take the knob off it works if I don't it doesn't glad I bought a 2K model GRRRRR!
