You can use a cold feed on washes below 50 degrees
if you need to connect a feed to the hot water inlet on the machine you can buy a y shaped connector to join both pipes together from the machine and then connect the one remaining connection to the water supply valve

There is nothing to indicate that the machine heats the water. We thought by connecting the y piece and just using cold, it would only be cold water. .

Most new washing machines only require a cold water feed! You should only connect the cold water feed and leave the hot water feed disconnected and turned off at the valve.

I've had my machine for at 7 years now, does it have to have both the water hoses connected, my seems to need both, and I hate using hot water for washing, is there any way to stop the need for the hot...

Some washers require that both water sources are connected. If you are content with cold - water washing only, I would get a Y-hose connector and run both sides of the washer to the cold water line. See picture below for details.

Can i connect to a cold water feed, i do not have a hot feed

I am assuming you can select water temperature on your machine. Simply hook up your pipe to the cold water feed on the machine, and leave the hot water feed alone. Always select cold water on the machine before beginning a load. If it makes you feel better, cap off the hot water inlet on the washing machine.

Does the wma76 hotpoint need a hot water feed? Is a cold water feed enough?

Hi from retired Englishman in France (it's 21:29!),

If your washer has 2 pipes for feeding water then one is for hot and the other is for cold naturally.
All washing machines have a water heating element in them- in case any hot water supply is not hot enough for its wash.
If you only have a cold tap you will need to purchase a 'Y' connector. This screws onto the cold tap supply (single end) and the hot and cold feed pipes connected to the washer screw onto the other two ends. The machine will now be fooled into thinking it has two separate feeds!
The machine opens the valve for the 'hot' water supply (which of course is cold) and the heats it up to the required temperature for the wash cycle. Afterwards, when the machine requires cold water for rinsing, it opens up the 'cold' supply (which is the same supply as for the hot water!) and is happy.

Hope this answers your question.

Does it run on hot or cold feed? only have one water inlet, second hand good condition but only red pipe feed with it do i need a blue cold feed?

If it only has the one valve, then it must be connected to the cold supplky, it does not matter what colour the hose is, as long as it is connected to the cold water supply.

Cold water or cold & hot water connection?

If there is only 1 water connection on the back of the machine then it's a cold water supply only and the machine will be fitted with a heater element to heat the water. If it has 2 water connections then you need the hot supply and should ask someone to fit the correct isolation valve on the capped pipe so you can fit the required hose. Most modern machines are cold water only.

Gushing water - Hoover SPB11 washing machine

First plug off the wall. Before connecting the "hoses" (both hot and cold) to the machine inlets see that the inlet is clean. Connect the outlet hose to the standpipe, not too deep. The outlet hose has to be about 3 feet above ground level; there is a water level mark behind the machine. Both the inlets should be well screwed in, noting the threads of the inlets

You said the water was gushing.....into the machine? Fine .....what next.......post back.
