I need to change the belt on the Hoover preferred 16.0 how do I open it up?

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are only 2 ways in order to change the vacuum belt on a Hoover vacuum cleaner. There should be a couple of levers or screws on the bottom of the vacuum. Once you remove the screws and or the bottom plate the belt should be exposed –if not then the top cover of the vacuum will come off and then you can service it from the top of the vacuum. The average flat belt change is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extra belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator, for some reason if the belt is a geared belt then you would change it once year. If you have a question look inside your owners manual or to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

How do you replace a belt on a hoover preferred vacuum cleaner

Your Vacuum is from the Elite series, without your model number I can't be specific but to change the belt on most of them you need to remove the top cover by releasing two tabs underneath to allow the cover to flex so you can remove it. Stick a screwdriver in to move the cover out enough to be released. Remove the belt from the motor shaft, remove and clean or replace the brushroll. Put the new belt around the brush roll and insert it back into the vacuum. You need to stretch the belt enough to get it over the motor shaft. It’s difficult with a new belt because it will be so tight. I insert a big screwdriver through the belt and then put the end of the screwdriver on the motor shaft as a fulcrum to use screwdriver to stretch the belt far enough to go on the motor sxhaft.

What belt fits the hoover preferred?

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

In order to know the right belts to use for your Hoover cleaner, you would need to get either the model number of your unit or the part number of the belt. Hoover upright model number can be found either at the back or at the bottom of the unit while the part number can be found in the manual that came with your vacuum or you can do a quick search online. You may also contact Hoover (800) 944-9200 for further assistance.

Why does my hoover belt keep snapping?

Hello! Your belt will need to be replaced about twice a year. If your belt is breaking within a couple uses of you changing it, you may not have the correct belt for your vacuum. Double check the owner's manual or Hoover.com to verify the belt number for your vacuum. Always replace the belt with a genuine Hoover belt. Hope this helped!

If you flip the vacuum over there should be (4) access screws on the base plate that covers the roller brush. Remove those and you will be able to access the belt. The belt you need you can get here:

Need to change a belt on my Hoover Concept One Power drive

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. On the Hoover Concept One Power Drive Upright vacuum there are 2 belts, a drive belt and a power drive belt, always use the Hoover genuine belts and for the best cleaning always change you vacuum belts every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning. !st, remove the bottom plate and cut off the old belts – then you need to lift up the one side of the brushroll that has the pulley side for the longer of the 2 belts and slide it on. Replace the brushroll, B4 you go to far remember which went on 1st, the power drive belt (smaller belt) or the brushroll belt, in either case hook the belt(s) onto the pulley 1st and then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a hook or bend on the end and stretch the belt(s) onto the motor pulley and then track the belts in a straight line – do this on both belts. Once you have done this then replace the bottom plate. Check your owner’s manual in the trouble shooting guide to see if they also have suggestions or check with your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Hoover website or the Hoover factory cust serv phone # listed below. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
