I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are only 2 ways in order to change the vacuum belt on a Hoover vacuum cleaner. There should be a couple of levers or screws on the bottom of the vacuum. Once you remove the screws and or the bottom plate the belt should be exposed –if not then the top cover of the vacuum will come off and then you can service it from the top of the vacuum. The average flat belt change is every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and to store the extra belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator, for some reason if the belt is a geared belt then you would change it once year.
