There are USB TV tuners devices that you plug into the USB port on your computer. They come with an antenna, but you may need to connect to an external antenna to get a better signal.

My Toshiba 36AF43 won't get any channels with converter box or anntenna

  • Connect the antenna to the antenna input of the converter
  • Connect the R-W-Y outputs of the converter to the corresponding inputs on the rear of your Toshiba TV.
  • Turn both units on. You should see a converter menu displayed on the TV screen.
  • Select channel scan on the converter. You should see a progress bar displayed on the TV as channels are detected.
  • Scanning should finish by displaying one of the scanned channels.

Trying to hookup vhs analog player to hd proscan

your toshiba player should have output composite video and audio which are color coded Yellow for video, red and white for audio same goes for proscan hdtv. connect between the two keeping in mind color of cables. If the toshiba player is really old you can connect the RF cable output to antenna input to the proscan tv and watch taped programs from the player on channel 3 of the proscan tv. If then you want to keep the hookup and still watch HDTV connect the antenna to the toshiba vcr and when you shut off the vcr you can now watch the hdtv channels as usual because now you are bypassing the antenna to the Proscan tv. Hope this Helps..

Toshiba Model: SD-V295 DVD/VCR Combo Setup for TV recording

The proper hookup is antenna or cable into the VCR RF/antenna input, then VCR RF/antenna output to the TV RF input. The hookup you describe means no signal is getting to the VCR.

With some TVs, there can be Video and audio output jacks which can be hooked to the video and audio jacks of the VCR. However this would likely mean you could only record the channel being watched, and, the TV would have to be on.
