Bradford White 40 gal water heater, works fine, but has started whining when not in "low" setting. Seems to only do it during showers, or when temps drop outside etc. Only lasts a few minutes

it is possibly a high frequence '"water hammer" from a failing tap washer
call a plumber to replace all the tap washers especially the shower hot water tap washer
water hammer is when the water flow is intermittently interrupted ( (normally as banging pipes) but when it is fast it appears as a whistle or squeal

If it's a valve issue, why's my plumber telling me the tanks gone?

""hey Im a plumber and every tank I sell now includes the temp regulator and at 5 hours to install so why not suggest a new unit, after all a simple valve replacement and 1 hour labor doesn't amount to a decent income""
I'm not a plumber but if you are not aware of what is going on and don't get a second opinion and quote , the plumber walks away a little richer
I have explained the reasoning and hopefully given you something to think about so that if replacement unit is necessary you will know that you have not been ripped of .

How to stop water hammer

There will be a section of water pipe which resonates to the vibration the water causes when in use. Find that section, quite possibly a 3 or 5 foot section not fully secured by clips. The cure is to alter the resonance, bit like a guitar string, by fixing the pipe to a solid surface, even a wedge may do. OR find out which tap is on when the water hammers and replace the washer or gland. Sometimes it is trial and error to alter the resonance frequency

How to stop water hammer

Connect hose-to-galvanized pipe adapter to shut off valve at washing machine.
Install galvanized 45 or 90 and then attach vertical 18" pipe with cap.
Then install galvanized-to-hose adapter and connect washing machine hose.

Hi, I've a fagor feb20e Eco plus combi boiler in

There is a flow sensor in the circuit and it is not sensing the lower flow from just the hot water. When you put it on heat though it does.

Whirlpool Thin Twin randomly skips agitation during the cycle.

Did you ever figure this out? Mine agitates but instead doesn't start spinning and draining unless I open the lid. It then "clicks" and starts but it is strange that I have to do this to get it to spin.

Boiler compartment ventilation will not stop you getting hot water . Its sounds like you have problems with a sensor or the water section on the boiler .

Canisters on my ge smart water filtration system gxsv10c model are stuck tight. How do i get them open

Make sure the water is turned off to system. Open the faucet to system to drain any water and keep the faucet turned on to keep pressure off filter housings.
1.Use the wrench to take housings off.
2. If they still won't budge take a small 2x4 block of wood and hammer, set the block of wood on the RIB for the housing and tap with hammer.
3. Change the o-rings in both housings, lubricate with silicone lube and lubricate the threads on housings with silicone also.
3. Rinse housings with small amount of bleach and clean thoroughly.
4. Replace filters and housings.
5. IMPORTANT: Only tighten housings by hand. NEVER tighten housings with wrench.
