Hello

Connect your Sansa MP3 player to more than one USB port on your computer. Ensure that your computer USB port is not corrupt or disabled by testing at least two available ports. This is especially useful when you possess no other USB-based equipment.

Inspect your USB ports' status to ensure they are enabled on your computer. Right-click "My Computer" and launch "Properties" to verify the availability of such connections. Select "Device Manager" from the Hardware tab and click the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" from the list shown. If a red "X" is shown, the USB ports are disabled.

Ensure your computer is updated by clicking "Start" and launching "Windows Update" from the Programs menu. Alternatively, inspect your USB port connectivity through your motherboard BIOS settings. Note that BIOS access and settings varies by mother board manufacturer.

Scan your computer for new hardware changes. From the Device manager, click the "Action" menu and select "Scan for hardware changes" while your Sansa MP3 player is connected. Allow your computer to attempt to find any physical component recently added in the event it failed to previously detect it.

Connect your Sansa player to a different computer. Test the connection on a different system's USB port to verify that the Sansa device's own connection has not been damaged. Inspect the USB ports on the computer in question as well to eliminate the possibility of both systems having problematic USB ports.

Change your Sansa MP3 player's USB plug. Sometimes the head of the plug may lose contact with the appropriate circuits. Obtain a secondary USB port at your local retail store and test it on an updated computer system.

My Samsung YP-S2 Mp3 player can't be recognised by computers when I plug it in through the usb input (it used to work), therefore I'm not able to upload music on it anymore. How can I fix this bug?

Samsung Player Is No Longer Detected By Windows XP, Vista, Emodio Or
Samsung Media Studio.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When your computer doesn't recognize your Samsung MP3 player, programs
such as Samsung Media Studio (SMS), Emodio, Windows Media Player
(10 or 11) do not allow you to transfer files to your player.
In SMS and Emodio, the portable icon appears grayed out.
In Windows Media Player, you are prompted to connect a device.
Your PC may fail to recognize your player for a variety of reasons.
To begin troubleshooting, scroll down, and then click the operating
system your computer is currently running.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
General Operating System Information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Windows computers, Samsung MP3 players require at least Windows XP
Service Pack 2. If you have an older operating system such as Windows
2000 or Windows 98, your computer won't recognize your player until you
upgrade your PC to at least Windows XP Service Pack 2.
If your PC is running Linux or MAC, it will not recognize some MP3
players that support only MTP mode. However, it will recognize players
that support UMS mode and list them as mass storage devices.
The following Samsung MP3 players support UMS: YP-U1, YP-U2, YP-U3,
YP-U4, YP-U5, and YP-S2.
The following Samsung MP3 players support both MTP and UMS mode: YP-Z5
and YP-P3.
Windows Vista may fail to detect you device if the player is not
connected properly, Windows Media Player is not installed or has become
corrupted, Vista is unable to install the MTP drivers, or the MTP patch
is not installed.
You can check it out further by going to this website and entering the information about your player

Try using the Windows Media Player ... open the program then connect your mp3 player and see if it recognizes it ... sometimes the software that comes with the players are inferior to what is standard on your pc ... Also it may take a few times for it to recognize it .. .load your music into your library and sync it from there ...hope this helps

Mp3 frooze; PC can not recognize it

I experienced the same problem after a week.

The only way to reset the player after freezing was to remove the battery. However starting up again resulted immediately again in freezing of the player (presenting logo, without any further action).

After having removed the battery and not turning the player on again, I inserted the player into the PC USB slot. The PC recognized the player as a memory stick only. (inserting the player in frozen condition did not result in recognition).
Using the right mouse button, I selected windows formatting and formatted the player (select FAT32 file system).
Everything is removed including the drivers for the MP3 player. Now the player is officially downgraded to a memory stick.
The driver for the player was still installed, but it did not recognize any MP3 file, which was actually stored in the memory (visible and playable via windows media player).

I downloaded from www.trekstor.de the driver and tools download and installed it on my PC.(http://www.trekstor.de/en/service/downloads.php?produktgruppe=5&produkt=83&sprache=none)
After installation an option becomes available via the start menu for "firmware update".
Upon selection a toggle for "formatting" is available.
Selection of formatting results in cleaning up the player and reinstallation of the MP3 player software.
The installed firmware version 2.620.573 is degraded to version 2.620.572, but I don't mind, since the sound volume is improved, while the player functions fine.

So therefore I would advice anyone to follow these steps to enjoy the player more ;-)

I'm having the exact same problem. My zen is 'charging' but isn't detected anywhere on my pc and I'd leave it charging for days but nothing happens. I've tried different usb ports, reinstalling the software several times but nothing. I recently reinstalled Windows and with my new pc my Zen cannot work on it for some reason?! I put previous files from my old pc onto my Zen hoping that I could transfer them onto my new Windows pc but I fear I've lost the data on my Zen completely. Arggh, any suggestions guys? Please..x

Do you have the most recent Windows media player? If not, it won't recognize it.

Player is not recognized

You need to have Windows XP / Service Pack 2 and Windows Media Player version 10 or higher in order for the device to be recognized.

If you have these already, try using a different USB Port, preferably in the back of the PC.

Best of Luck.
