What is my computer browser and how do i close it.

Your computer browser is the program that you use to connect to the internet. Its called a browser because you use it to "browse" the internet.

Common browsers are programs like Internet Explorer (which is the blue "e" on your desktop) or Mozilla Firefox (which looks like a blue planet wrapped in red flames or wings).

You close a browser by clicking on the red "x" in the upper right hand corner of your screen. If you click on the "-" which is located to the left of the red "x" in the upper right hand corner of your screen while on the internet, this minimizes the browser and puts it on the bottom of your computer screen. You can see which windows are open by looking at the bottom of your computer screen. When windows are minimized, they look like squares and have the name of the page which is open on them displayed for easy reading. To close a browser that is minimized to the bottom of your pc screen, click on it with your mouse and then click on the red "x".

Hi There! I am having problem opening my hp director program

  1. Open HP Director using one of the following methods:
    • From the desktop : On your computer's desktop, look for the HP Director icon (c01425509.gif), and then double-click it.
    • From the Windows taskbar : Click Start , click All Programs , click the HP orHewlett-Packard folder, and then click HP Director .
Although HP Director does not appear to be open , it is open and loaded into the computer's memory, but it does not open in a new window as usual.
  2. Without navigating to another open window, press Alt and Space bar at the same time. The Shortcut menu displays near the top-left corner of the computer. Figure 1: Shortcut menuc00833293.gif If the Shortcut menu does not open, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it does.
  3. Select Minimize from the Shortcut menu.HP Director displays (minimizes) as an item on the taskbar (the row of open software programs that appears at the bottom of the desktop screen). If HP Director does not minimize, click Minimize again until it does.
  4. Click the HP Director icon on the taskbar . The software opens and functions normally.

My HP Notebook first showed a black screen and then after a hard shutdown and restart it only shows a black screen with colored lines. It seems that it is starting up even though I can't see the screen.

Try this,Start in VGA mode.Once started, update your video drivers

To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
  2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
  3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.
Safe Boot options loadTOCNode(2, 'moreinformation');
  • Safe Mode (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows.
  • Safe Mode with Networking (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Network): This option uses a minimal set of device drivers and services to start Windows together with the drivers that you must have to load networking.
  • Safe Mode with Command Prompt (SAFEBOOT_OPTION=Minimal(AlternateShell)): This option is the same as Safe mode, except that Cmd.exe starts instead of Windows Explorer.
  • Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.
Please rate this a fixa

Screen is size is to large can't find minimize box

Not enough information. What window are you talking about? Press the "windows" button and the "M" key to minimize everything. Right mouse click on the center of the screen and select "properties". You can then change your resolution so that things fit properly.

Touchpad minimizes screen

Double check your settings for the touch pad. It could be set to do that under one of the settings. Or something internally could have gotten jogged or internally moved. If that is the case there isn't much you could do unless you got someone to look inside of it for you.
