Question about Samsung HL-R6167W 61" HDTV

I have a SAMSUNG DLP model HLR6167w with a problem.

I have a SAMSUNG DLP model HLR6167w with a problem.
I just changed the light hoping this would fix the problem. When the problem first occurred, I could barely make out the picture, and it was very green and jumpy (but I could still see spider man on TV with the 5 big vertical lines). I called tech supportand they said unplug the TV and plug it in after about 5 minutes. I did that and now it went from bad to worse. No picture at all. I have whiteand black static on the screen that also has a green tint. I have 5vertical evenly spaced lines. The big 3 inch lines consist of about 10skinny lines. I can put the TV on air-antenna, Satelite, DVD, NindendoWii, and the greenish static follows all components. When I hit "menu"on the TV remote, all menu options are crystal clear. Set-up, channel, sound, etc...all perfect picture...Just a problem with the actualpicture on all components. Please help if possible.

I have a 60" Samsung DLP HLR6167w
I turned it on again last night and I found more details.
The attached picture is what it looks like when it's on. It looks like that for 15 seconds then freezes. When it freezes I can't turn the TV off/on nor navigate through the TV's menu (it freezes also) Then the screen goes black like it's turned off. I look at the back of the TV and the light bulb seems to still be on.

I have white and green lines going across my picture. I can't turn it off with the remote once turned on. My menu page comes up clear. It's just the cable and dvd plays. The picture also goes plank every once in a while. the comes back with white and green lines.

You need to do an aggressive reset on the TV. This solved problem completely for me. You must unplug the TV when it is on. Repeat this several times until the TV is jolted back into the factory default settings. The issue is actually with the programming I believe. The clue was that the display worked 100% perfect in HDMI mode, and the problem only existed in the cable setting, no matter if wires were attached or not.

Again, do an aggressive reset to the TV by unplugging it several times while it is on. It may not register the reset at first because after all, the actual problem is a programming issue and it's having trouble recognizing commands in the first place.

Good luck!!

I had the same problem. So i opened my TV being that its 3 years old and no longer covered under warranty and found the color wheel was broken. I replaced it for $136 and problem was fixed. Try this= http://www.partstore.com/Part/Samsung/Samsung/BP9600674A/New.aspx?ModelMfgName=Samsung&ModelBrandName=Samsung&ModelNumber=HLR6167W

SOURCE: Help me willtab guru man...Please.

What is the make and model of your television.. green tint and vertical lines indicat a problem with the light engine..although the clear menu says otherwise..im not sure what type tv you have. lcd plasma change the light im guessing you mean bulb .. this indicates to me you have a dlp. but green tint to me indicates a tube projection type tv... so im just guessing hear. vertical lines also indicate a bad buffer board on a plasma or lcd. so let me know what you have

White spots on samsung DLP tv

DLP/mirror chip is going bad. A common problem on Sammy TVs after 2-3 years. Chip is user replaceable (try samsungparts.com or ebay) for about $150-200. Sammy was (last year) repairing the DLP White Spot problem for free. You MUST talk to ECR (executive customer service) to even think about getting that consideration--forget the standard CS people. Don't know if they are still covering this out of warranty in 2010.

Does the TV appear to be cycling on and off, like its attempting to boot up? Or, does it just not come on at all? Don't miss the lamp door interlock switch. Many Samsung DLPs have tempermental door switches. Try re-installing the door or manually hold the switch in the closed postion and try to power it up. If the lamp comes on and stays lit, you've found your problem.

Worked a charm on my 50" Samsung DLP. Read thread carefully as there are 2 different version of the DMD chip you will need to replace. I ended up fixing mine for less than $165!

I have a DLP Samsung HL-R6167w and it's not working

I had a bad digital board also. I went to parts.com to order a new part way cheaper than from repair service. the only problem I had was that after installation which is super easy 4 cables to unplug and replug. when I turned on the TV the picture came in upside down, not good. no one would give me the code to flip the screen as it is in a hidden menu, well after months of searching the web I found it!! It works for most all newer Samsung TV's. turn the TV off, hit mute then 182 and then power on button on the remote. the "hidden" menu will pop up and you scrool down to h-flip and flip the screen. I don't recommend messing with any of the other setting as you could likely really jack up the TV but at least you can fix it for a 3rd of the cost you would spend otherwise.
