I have been recently attacked by the red ring on my Xbox 360 console. Which is mainly because either the hardware does not function or it is damaged. Sometimes it would freeze when I would play, Then when I turn it on and off the ring would go red. But now the ring just goes pure red everytime I turn it on. Also it is wasting time on my Xbox live account. What should i do?

Simply you have a hardware failure with your Xbox 360. Fear not though, this is a VERY common fault and perhaps more so than Microsoft would like to admit.
The problem lies with overheating. The design of the clips that hold the equipment in place for dissipating heat away from the microchips are flawed. So when a potentially dangerous heat level is reached on this chips the console resorts to the "red rings of death" hibernating state that you're all now familiar with.
Fortunately, this problem is normally fixable. Either you can fix it yourself or if the unit is still in warranty (which is likely since the warranty was extended for exactly this fault and this fault only) you can have it fixed by Microsoft.
Solution 1 - I would avoid fixing it yourself unless it is the only option. Look up "x clamp kit" or similar on google and you should be in good hands.
Solution 2 - Provided you have not opened up your 360 and broken the warranty seal behind the faceplate you should be in luck. Go to xbox.com and sign in. Once signed in go to "Support" and then "Registration and Repair". On this page register your console by entering the serial #. Click on the now registered device for more details and you will see a summary letting you know if the device is in warranty or not. Regardless of whether it is in warranty or not select "Request a new repair" from the top right. Fill in the form making sure to select the red rings issue to yes. The next page will hopefully produce an invoice with a lovely figure of 0.00. Accept, continue and follow all steps provided. Microsoft will pay to send the device to wherever they will evaluate it and send another one back. Before sending make sure that you ONLY send the console i.e. remove hard drive, cables, controllers, memory cards.
As you can probably tell I have had to use this service and on the whole I have been very pleased. Good luck

Is the E 74 error fixable and What does it mean?

The e74 Xbox error's principal cause is overheating, due to excess heat causing damage to various components, and eventually major malfunctions in the hardware of your console. Why is this heat able to build up and cause damage that leads to the Xbox 360 e74 error? This is actually due to cramped case design and a lack of cooling devices such as fans and heat sinks. Although overheating is ususally a problem for all electronic devices, the Xbox 360 does seem to suffer particularly badly from this issue. unless you have a bit of technical knowledge than the best thing would be to A) fix your Xbox e74 problem by sending your Xbox 360 back to Microsoft for repair or B) buy a new one. there is no easy way to permentaly fix it without taking your xbox apart and the "towel trick" which is where you wrap your xbox in a towell power on until it overheats and shutsdown is only a temporary fix and will cause major damage to your xbox in the long run. fixing yourself consists of stabilizing the heat shields by removing the old brackets and replacing them with new heat paste and bolts so the best thing if you are dedicated to doing it yourself would be to probably buy a manual online. you shouldnt need to pay anything over $30 and make sure you get a full manual because alot of them only deal with the "red ring of death" (which is three red rings)
hope this helps

My xbox 360 has a red light flashing on the bottom right quadrant of the circle and displaying system error on screen with E74 at the bottom of the screen. Can anyone help or does it need to go in for...

This problem occurs when the Xbox 360 console experiences a hardware failure.

If your Xbox 360 is still under warranty, which lasts for three years since the purchase date for this type of problem, then the best thing you can do is request for your Xbox to be fixed by Microsoft. Even if it is expired, it still best to send it in and pay the small fee, compared to trying to fix it yourself, which will most likely cause more damage.

To send your Xbox to Microsoft, visit www.myservice.xbox.com and select "Start a repair request", then follow the on-screen instructions.

I have an e73 system error problem

E73: I/O Hardware Error - Couldn't calibrate HSIO Bus from edram: this error is likely caused by a problem with the Ethernet port or supporting control devices.

Here is a link to a temporary fix. I DO NOT RECCOMEND YOU DOING THIS as it may do more damage to your 360. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

Can I use my HP2009v computer screen with the X-Box 360 Elite

Hello,

In order to make this work you need the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV cable.

Following link will give you an image of the cable itself:

Unfortunately you wont be able to get the highest resolution with the cable.

Here you have a list of supported resolutions:

Xbox 360 not turning on

Hi there,

from your description i would say that you are having a problem which lies within the system itself, could possibly be faulty/broken electrical connections or your motherboard is damaged.

Due to this being a hardware issue, and the fact that all 360 systems have a 5 year microsoft warranty, i would suggest contacting Xbox customer support. their number can be found on http://www.xbox.com/support

Hope this helps
