Hi,
This will erase everything on the E Drive
1. Go To my computer
2. Locate E drive
3. Put the mouse over E drive
4. Right click
5.Choose Format
6.Check Quick Format
7.Now you have a empty Drive

Thanks

You have to check which XP you have booted. If you have booted from XP in drive E, you cannot format that particular drive.

For that
1) boot from XP which is installed in drive C
2) Once XP is loaded, right click on drive E from My Computer.
3) Click on Format
4) Check Quick if you need a faster format.

I am trying to format c: and erase everything on that drive i dont have a boot disk however just the windows xp pro disk and i cant remember how to get into command prompt

You can't format the drive while Windows is running. Insert the CD, reboot, and follow the prompts to delete and re-add the main partition, then do a Quick format.

How can i expand my pc memory

Hi there,
There is a free program called ncleaner that I use to free up space on Windows. It properly deletes all unnecessary files on your system, and can also 'shred' the free space on the system, and clean up redundant registry entries. I swear by it. you can download it from here:
http://www.nkprods.com/ncleaner/

Another trick is to go to My Computer > C: > Program Files > Java, and delete older versions of Java. Leave the most recent one (ie the highest number), but when Java updates it doesn't delete older versions, which can increasingly take up space on your hard drive.

I would recommend ncleaner as essential, and the Java deletion method as optional. After you have cleaned the drive and the registry etc. with ncleaner you might be able to get a little more space back by defragmenting the hard drive.
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter
and then press Defragment. This is something you should be doing occasionally anyway.

Try and keep around 15% of your hard drive free at all times to avoid the system from slowing down and hanging up. You could burn all your media files onto disk, or move them onto a USB stick, and then delete them from the hard drive.

Good luck and Happy Holidays :)

Leave the other drive in; no the other windows will not cause problems cos its not set as boot 'C' drive, you can deletewindoes off the drive or format it within windows.

I don't think that the drivers you installed are the cause of the boot problem it may be the other drive, remove old drive and try again, but make sure in the bios (F2 or Del on boot up) it is correctly recognising the new drive.

delete this path:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /usepmtimer

Hard Drive Issue

you can access the bios settings at the first boot screen here you have to go to you boot priority and make the dvd Rom drive you number 1 in the list, save and exit bios insert the xp professional disc and re-install window. during this process do not reair you copy of xp home just install the xp professional it will automatically detect and delete the old xp home files without deleting any of your data. But DO NOT formatt otherwise you will lose your data. lease the file system as is. the only catch with this method is that due to the xp home registries being deleted along with it. most of the software which was installed on xp home will be there but not work you will have to re install it.

RESOLUTION loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution'); To resolve this issue, delete the temporary files in the temporary files folder to free disk space.

To manually delete temporary files, follow these steps: 1. Start Windows Explorer. 2. Open the drive:\Windows\Temp folder, where drive is the drive on which Windows is installed. 3. On the Edit menu, click Select All. 4. Press SHIFT+DELETE. 5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.and restart the pc and try to install it
