Have you tried simply unplugging the machine - that is if you can get to the plug. Or, you could always flip the circuit breaker off. Either way, leave it off for a minute or two, and that should give it time to forget what it was doing. Once you start it back up, it should unlock, unless it has some kind of static memory that survives power outages.
Try switching it off, leave for a few seconds, and then switch on again, press start and cancel button if it has one, and hold for 3 seconds, then try a programme again.
This may work, but as you did not state the model number , the sequence can differ from model to model.
Hope this helps.
This may be a simple control fault that can be reset by unplugging for 5 minutes or switching the breaker switch off for five minutes also. if the five minute reset doesn't restore the machine to its original operational value, you will then need to replace the main control board in this unit. it has failed.
button selection : To select an option press the button and you will see a light come on above the button. Press again to cancel and the light will go out. You cannot alter the options once the machine is running. Note : remember to cancel buttons after use!
As you look at the machine
Left hand button... Rinse Hold.. use this option to Help reduce creasing of delicate or synthetic fabrics by holding clothes in the final rinse water. The rinse hold light will flash to indicate that the programme is holding final rinse water. Complete the final spin by pressing the Rinse Hold button when light is flashing.
This is not available with Wool or Spin only programmes.
Middle Button.... Energy Save... use this option to save money and time on lightly soiled loads. This is not available with the Quick Wash, Rinse and Spin, or Spin Only programmes.
Right Hand Button .... Super Rinse... use this option for Large Wash loads and items for young children or people with sensitive skin. This option increases the water level for the first two rinses. This is not available with Cold Wash, Rinse and Spin or Spin Only programmes.

Hope it helps.
The lights are set off by the balance sensors. And if your balance sensors are stopping it from spinning than you first have to make sure the washer is level. You could have bad Shocks and a bad electronic control board,.
