I have a Windows Vista (updated with service packs and updates) running on a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop PC purchased in Nov 2007. It has 3GB DRAM, and a Core2Duo Intel microprocessor. For about 5 mths now, I've had an intermittent problem which is affecting all 4 Windows users I have setup on this machine, including me (the only administrator). When I restart my machine when the problem hits, the problem is resolved, but then sometimes comes back. The problem seems to hit at least 10 mins after initial startup/reboot, but I see no other pattern. I'm using a Microsoft 4000 wireless keyboard and Logitech m305 wireless mouse. I have the latest drivers on both and I've diagnosed them both (fresh batteries, swapped both out) and they don't seem to be the root cause. I have McAffee Security Center (antivirus), Microsoft Security Essentials (anti spyware), and Microsoft Firewall. All are updated automatically. The problem includes these issues: - backward typing: when the problem hits, wherever I type (IE8 address bar, IE web page such as Google Search, Firefox, MS Word 2003, etc), the letters I type come out backwards and the cursor moves from right to left - In browsers, when I click up on the address bar, the cursor moves from right all the way to hard left - when I got to show my desktop, I see flashing icons, and if I try to click START to log off, I can't logoff because the Log Off/Restart/Shutdown/etc options are flashing such that I cannot select any one of them. The only way to restart/shutdown my PC is to press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and then to shutdown from my main Windows login screen (where the 4 icons are -- for the 4 users I've setup on this machine) Here's what I've tried to diagnose/fix the issue with no luck: - installed new batteries on wireless keyboard and mouse - downloaded latest Windows updates - installed Java 1.6.21 - Cleaned Java caches/etc per instructions - ran "cleanup" via McAfee SecurityCenter - Ran Malwarebytes scan and removed trojan.agent and pc.dropper and just checked, my system is clean of any malware - Replaced Windows Defender with MS Security Essentials 2 months ago (the backward typing issue existed before/after this I'm perplexed! I'm the only user (of 4) on this machine that has admin rights so I'm very careful not to install garbage stuff on this machine or to open spam like emails, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I had the same problem a few months back and submitted questions to Gateway then Acer who manufactures Gateway. No help was really given so I went to Microsoft. All I was told to backup all files I wanted to keep and reformat my drive, then reinstall the Windows. That did work for a full hour only and the problem came back. Since then I purchased a new hard drive and the problem is gone

Each time I start my DELL Inspiron 1764 I get the message "Your version of Logitech DesktopMessenger isn't compatible with this version of Windows."

You have some type of Logitech controller software installed on your Dell. The Logitech Desktop Messenger is supposed to check their website to see if there are any updates available for your hardware. If you choose to keep the software running on your PC you can go to their website and update your Desktop Messenger so that you can have it automatically checking for updates. I found that it seemed to take up an awful lot of my resources so I removed it from my PC. All I do now is check the website myself for updates about once ever week or two. That choice would be up to you.

If you are not aware of any Logitech devices that are or were connected to your PC then go ahead and remove the software using Add or Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

I cleaned out my start up folder and now my cd-dvd drive will not recogonize or open any discs. dell inspiron 530s running vista.

you will want to check the device manager to see if the drivers are not working properly.

Go to start then right click on my computer and go to properties
On the left side of the properties window you will see device manager click on that and find the dvd/cd-rom drives
click on the plus icon to the left of that and it will show you the drives right click and select update driver and then select search automatically for updated drivers.

Purchased dell inspiron 530 from best buy, Vista was alreday on system as wll as all drivers, a 2 recovery cds came with system one with Visat the other with drivers. About a wek ago microsoft updated my...

You probably have to try to browse to tell windows where the driver is found. Windows is notoriously annoying at this. Try browsing, or telling it you know where the file is, and then comb through the folders and try to find one the looks right. Once you find the right file or folder, the OK button will "ungray" and you can click it to advance. It won't let you tell it an incorrect driver so feel free to try some that sound right, the wrong one won't install.

I have a dell with windows vista and it will not except a printer.we tryed two printer put new usb cable to computer and printer it says not communicating with printer. printers work my daughter put them...

You may need to update windows
and the chipset software
if you have a thumb drive try it to see if it works on the computer

if not update windows and all drivers

Screen jumps...cant use computer it is so bad.

Update the driver for the monitor and adapter
If the system is fairly new it's usually a driver issue

Selecting a printer that works with my PC.

Get the printer specification and purchase any printer that has what you want that specifices that it has a driver for the windows (Which) 64 bit system. Xp?  VISTA? NT?

Video driver for windows 2003 server


i could only locate Vista and XP drivers but the dell website has a comprehensive list of all the drivers available , i'm thinking that the XP drivers should work

heres the link , so look there and download and install them one by one until it works, thats how i would go about it , pretty standard but unfortunately they don't make Server 2003 Specific Drivers , also try updating using Windows Update and see if that works.
