Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W70 Digital Camera

Sony Cybershot camera won't turn on

Hi, I just purchased a new sony cybershot 7.2 megapixel camera. It arrived safely, and when I opened the box, put in the batteries, the camera turned on just fine. Hours later, I went to turn the power on and the camera will not even turn on. It's brand new and I have no idea why it's not working. Could I have faulty batteries? Most likely do you think the camera is fine since it DID work this morning and is not now? Could I have left the camera on and that's why it's not working (not sure if these kinds of batteries drain that fast??) thanks so much for your time!

Same problem, with DCS=S650 camera, changed batteries. Camera is not new, my daughters, and out of warranty. Got run arround fron Sony support. Want to charge to look at camera. Actually camera screen flashes momentarily after battery cover is opened, then closed. Do not have ac adapter, but have new lithium batteries. Also doen't have memory stick installed, but camera is supposed to have internal memory. I was wondering if internal memory is full, would that prevent camera from turning on.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

5 megapixels or more. In general, unless you're really tight on space or know you're not going to need the resolution, set your camera to its highest resolution (8 megapixels in your case) and leave it there. You can always make a large picture smaller; you can't make a small picture larger.

Sony Cybershot DSC-W180 won't turn on when plugged into computer.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Sony has made several different 7.2 megapixel cameras. Enter the model of your camera into the "Model Number" box at

Recently purchased Sony Cybershot DSCW180. Took 3

Yes, you need to have memory stick because camera has limited internal memory that can store few pictures only.
Put new memory card, format it through camera Menu and copy internal memory pictures to memory stick, take our memory card from camera and delete internal memory pictures either one by one or format internal memory through camera Menu.
Thanks.

the sony DSC-100 is a 5.0-megapixel CCD so you will not get more megapixel from this camera.

Well I have the same camera.
And mine won't turn on.
Suggestion dont trust this camera.
Or maybe it just can't hold that much memory.

To salvage the pictures you could just use a memory card reader. As for the camera itself I cannot say, but by your description it doesn't sound promising.
