Question about Eton E1 AMFM Radio

2 Answers

Everything is frozen and no buttons work at all. I have hit clear/lock repeatedly to no avail. The bands don't change when I hit MW or anything else on that side. The numerals don't change. The BW AGC buttons have no effect. Nothing at all changes when I push a button. (The squelch, treble and bass controls work, as well as the volume, but nothing else.) Even the frequency "select" bar doesn't work. At all. Period. I have poked reset a couple of times to no avail. I have had this shortwave radio for several years and until now it has worked flawlessly. Tonight it has frozen up solid.

It appears to have digital technology.Digital products will occassionally lock up.A typical reset, other than the button you already tried,is to unplug it.This is very common in digital products such as modems, ovens, just about anything programmable as well as a few things which aren't such as your radio. Also, video game console power supplies, telephones,on and on.Some products reset in 30 seconds, some take up to 5 minutes,so I recommend just unplugging it for 5 minutes. While it is unplugged, hit the reset once and power on and off once.Unplugging is usually only required but when I reset my items,I do that also, just to leave no doubt. If that doesn't work, just comment here and I will get an autolink to your post and will reply ASAP and continue.Good luck,Greg
P.S.If it does work, try it on any electronic stuff you may have which may not power up or for almost any situation, where it is not working properly.

Here's the free, don't look in the manual, free answer. You didn't fix anything, you set a message waiting from another phone. Either answer the other phone when you press the MESSAGE button, or dial 700 plus your extension to clear all MW lights. When you first press message, without picking up the handset, look at the display. It will tell you who, or what, left the message.

I don't know why you're using 167 as it's the 3rd set of VM ports, but the VM system needs to send out the MW indications. You can tell the system in 990 to let the VM or the phone system to cancel the MW light.

Unable to tune in to programmes on LW, MW and SW bands. FM working fine

Hi,
If you are experiencing bad or NONE AM (MW) reception ,if your receiver has an external antenna connection point here is the solution... It should also have a ground connection as it is rare such a point does not accompany an external antenna connection.
The problem with MW reception is the vast frequency range of the MW band as" 540-1760kHz "
means nighttime fade out, and even heavy static and distortion..( less than SW )
in order to receive a station on LW and MW bands you need to have a "Loop Antenna " that normally supplied by manufacturer..if you cant locate it ,you can buy it in any electronic store..it is a very cheap accessory..additionally both LW and MW works good in daytime with powerful radio stations in your vicinity ..espacially LW..not much stations on these days..except in Europa..MW works better and more stations come after sunset ..
SW band is a little bit different.if you really want to listen SW in depth ,and if your receiver has multiple SW bands as well ,you then need special SW antenna to be attached to your receiver..otherwise it is not worth to listen it due to heavy static and distortion on the band..,unless you want it..just for testing and to see what is available in your area pls attack a plain wire (about 1 meter ) to ext antenna plug and try to search it..if you desire to learn shortwave -Listen To The World please visit the URL below.

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

Frigidaire Gallery Series Oven Locked

Not familiar with this particular stove, but it sounds like you activated a child protection lock. To turn these on and off, you have to hit that lock icon and hold it for 4-8 seconds for anything to happen. This is so that the kids won't have sense enough to unlock it, assuming that you locked it to keep them out!

Also, frequently they work  in stages. Hitting it one time (for 4-8 seconds) will lock the panel, hitting it another time will unlock it, hitting it a third time might lock the door, and so on. So RTFM, or just keeping hitting it multiple times for 4-8 seconds each, and see what does what. But the manual should tell you everything you need to know. You can go to the GE website, or to managemyhome.com, which is maintained by Sears, and you should be able to find a PDF copy of the manual if you don't have the manual that came with it.

Getting started with the ICOM IC_R5

First set the squelch (gets rid of the hissing noise and allows the radio to scan)
to do this....

On the side are 2 buttons, the bottom one is monitor.
press and hold then look at the display,
turn the top dial until "AUTO" appears,

The squelch should now keep the radio quiet.

Now the tuning step..
You need to set this because if your radio was on 450.000 and you wanted to listen to 450.012.5 you would miss it if your radio was making 000.025 "steps". IE you would need 12.5 steps. This is the most common step used by ambulance etc in the UK, you will need to check local band plans.
Stick with 12.5 and you should get most stuff on VHF / UHF.
For airband 12.5 will get most stuff, but some is now changing to 8.33.
For HF (below) 136 Mhz I'd use 5

To set the step....

On the front there are 4 big buttons.
press [V/M.S.MW.SKIP] to select VFO mode,
then press [BAND.LOCK] to select the band you want to listen to,
then press [TS.SET] to enter the step
turn the dial to select your step (stick with 12.5 for now)
press [TS.SET] to exit back to VFO mode

To scan...

First set the scan type...
On the front there are 4 big buttons.
Press and hold the one that says [MODE.SCAN] for 2 seconds and look at the display,
turn the top dial until the screen reads ALL,
press [MODE.SCAN] again and the radio should start to scan with the 12.5 steps you set earlier.
If you want to change scan direction, just turn the top dial.
If you want to stop the scan, just press [MODE.SCAN].

When you hear something interesting, make a note of the frequency on the display.

To set memories (store frequencies).....

On the front there are 4 big buttons.
press [V/M.S.MW.SKIP] to select VFO mode,

to get close to the frequency you made a note of, press [BAND.LOCK]
Then set the actual frequency with the top dial,
press and hold [V/M.S.MW.SKIP] for 2 seconds to select memory write mode (1 short and 1 long beep)
turn the top dial to select which channel you would like to overwrite. Start with 01.
press [V/M.S.MW.SKIP] for 2 seconds. ( 3 beeps )

Thats it!

Any more problems just post on here and either me or someone else will help.

Garmin 660 locked up / frozen

Resetting the device merely resets the power connection, on some devices there is a reset to manufacturer defaults on settings, but not your stored data. Working with GPS's 40 hours a week I constantly have to use the reset button when they lock up. Just press it in for a few seconds then if it doesn't power back up just hit the power button and everything should be fine.

How do you delete the presets in my unit?

Hello,

I was looking for a solution of my problem but found your problem. I have a manual but it is not aesy to find a way to erase all presets. Read this selection till the end and you know a way!

It is possible to change the MW tuning interval. You can do this by pressing the POWER button while pressing the BAND button during power is on. To reset the interval, repeat this procedure.

NOTE

- When the MW tuning interval is changed, all preset stations are cleared. The preset stations have to be set.

Good luck!

LOCKED DOOR (but it's not!) GE JKP85

bob, sounds like the door lock cam is making the door lock switch. Either the switch actuator stuck in or the cam failed to home. The cam has 2 funtions, one is to position the lock hook in the door and the other is to tell the board whether the door is locked or unlocked. On a single or upper oven the assy. is behind the control panel. For lower ovens the assy. is behind the trim between the two ovens....Catriver..post back.
