Question about HP Photosmart C6100 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Can't send or recieve faxes

I cannot send or receive faxes lately, so I disconnected power to the HP 6100 Photosmart all in one, reconnected after about 5 minutes, and then finally rebooted my computer.

Next I called my fax number to confirm that it was operational. After three rings I got the usual FAX SOUND, so that appear to be fine.

The unit will copy and scan just fine, but no faxing.
Please help, thanks, John

HP Photosmart 6150 suddenly came up with Unable to Send or Receive Faxes msg when printer turned on. When I try to receive (call the FAX #) get an electrical noice from where phone ports plugged in. Has worked for 2 yrs. HP says h/ware failure -- which means buy a new one. Use a strong Surge Protector; unplug while we are gone. What happened?

I have a HP Photosmart 7200 series All in One, and the fax will not send or receive faxes, When I attempt to fax, I will receive above mentioned message on small LCD screen on printer, I checked phone line, there is a dial tone, and it is analog, and no static. I even called HP, had to reboot printer, to 'reestablish' connections, and this did not work. This error message I receive, just started a few days ago, I have had printer for one month, and, it coincided with a thunderstorm we experienced and our power went out, for a brief second,, perhaps there was a power surge? Anyway, any imput would be great, as to how to fix my fax...thank you....karen

Same problem with the C7280 - we've had lightning lately and power surges - my power was protected but the phone line was not. My cable modem was definitely hit by the surge, and that's where my phone connection comes from...

Same problem after a storm also.  Is there anyway to fix this without having to replace the whole thing?

I have a HP c7280 and it is experiencing the same issue. It won't send or receive faxes, it says Fax failure-unable to send or receive faxes. This problem started after we had some thunder/lightning storms. Can it be fixed or should i just buy new one?

Step three: Use an analog telephone service HP Fax and All-in-One products are designed to work with analog telephone services and might experience some difficulties when they are connected to phone lines with digital services. Make sure the product is connected to an analog telephone service. To obtain digital services information or support, contact the telephone service provider or system administrator.

Hp 2510 all in one wont recieve faxes and is making a clicking noise

Step 1: Reinitialize and check the All-in-one
=-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-=
1. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the All-in-One. The
All-in-One will reinitialize when it is plugged back in. You must disconnect
the power cord, turning the unit off using the power button will not
reinitialize the fax. Leave the power cord disconnected for now.

2. Verify that the phone cable is fully inserted into the All-in-One.

3. Reconnect the power cord. After the fax reinitializes and is ready, try
to send and receive faxes again. If the problem still exists, continue to
Step two: Check the connections.

Step 2 :
=-=-=-=-=
Replace the telephone cable between the wall jack and the telephone with
another two-conductor cable. If a dial tone cannot be heard after changing
the cable, contact your telephone company for assistance.

Now, check the functionality of the All-in-One. If the issue persists, I
request you to perform the steps given below to resolve the issue:

Step 3: Power Cycle the Unit
=-==-==-==-==-==-==-==-==
If the power cord was plugged into a surge suppressor, please remove the
power cord from the surge suppressor and plug directly into a wall power
outlet. In some cases there are too many devices plugged into surge
suppressors or the suppressor may be defective. Replace any defective surge
suppressor or move some devices onto a different circuit.

Please follow the steps below to power cycle your all-in-one:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from
power and disconnect the connection port.
2. Please wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only.
4. Repeat steps 2-4 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the
connection port from the all-in-one to your computer.
6. Please restart your computer and check the functionality.

Now, please check the functionality.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you to please go through the below web link were in you can check your fax by sending a fax to HP Server and within some time HP will send you back a reply as a fax.

In order to find the solution to this issue, you need the fax number for another fax machine that is operating correctly with which to send and receive faxes. After trying each of the following solutions, try to send or receive a fax from this other fax machine to test if the issue has been resolved with your HP fax product. The other fax can be in the same building, on another telephone line, or at another location with someone who can assist. It can also be helpful to call the person or company that is sending the fax. That party can offer information about how that fax machine behaves when sending a fax. This information can be valuable in determining the nature of the issue.
There are several possible solutions to this issue. Start with the first solution and then continue with the other solutions in the order presented until the issue is resolved. When the issue is resolved, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
Solution one: Run a fax diagnostic test
Run a fax diagnostic test to make sure that the HP fax product is set up correctly.
Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray.
on the product control panel, press the setup button ( ).
Use the down arrow key ( ) to select Tools and then press the OK button ( ).
on the Tools menu, use the down arrow key ( ) to select Run Fax Test and then press the OK button ( ).
Review the results of the test.
If the result of the fax diagnostic test is All Pass ,
Reinitialize the fax
1. With the HP fax product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the HP fax product and from the electrical outlet.
2. Connect one end of the telephone cord to the telephone jack and then connect the other end of the cord to the port labeled 1-Line on the back of the HP fax product.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the back of the HP fax product and then reconnect the power cord to the electrical outlet.
4. After the HP fax product reaches a ready state, try to send and receive a fax again.

If this works GREAT!, if not let me know....JCE

My HP Photosmart 2610 will send faxes but wont receive them.

Hi,
If your issue is somewhat like this:
When receiving a fax the line disconnects. No faxes or calls can be made until the fax being received is cancelled.
Then, Try the following procedure:
  1. Ensure that you have a two contact phone cable connected to line 1 socket of the printer and that the other end of the cable is connected to the phone jack in the wall.
  2. Perform a partial reset on the printer. To do this first remove the power supply from the back of the printer. With the power off press and hold the # and 3 keys.
  3. Plug the power back into the printer, keep holding the # and 3 keys till you see “ Partial Reset ” displayed on the printer screen.
