SOURCE: Kenwood car stereo KDC-W3534 : warning message PROTECT

This is a safety feature and it usually suggest that there is a problem with the internal amplifier, it could also be a trapped speaker wire. Remove the radio and check if any of the cables have been damaged and if you power up the radio with the speaker plug disconnected that will tell you if the fault is in the car or the radio

SOURCE: unlock code kenwood car stereo

there are a few different ways to unlock according to model. I have posted 3 solutions.
1
During the code request mode, while holding the display key , press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.

2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".

Then using your remote enter your code.

3
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key. "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.

Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)

* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key

This should unlock your radio.
Have a great day!

Blue - power antenna
Blue / White - remote trigger for external device
Pink / Black - external amplifier control wire
Gray - Front Right +
Gray / White - Front Right -
White - Front Left +
White / White - Front Left -
Purple - Rear Right +
Purple / White - Rear Right -
Green - Rear Left +

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Kenwood kdc-mp239 car stereo overheating

Did you change the speakers, usually this happen because of the Ohms. Let me explain you, The factory radios are usally 8 Ohms and must of the aftermarket speakers are 4 Ohms or less so if you put 4 Ohms in a radio designed to work with 8 Ohms of coures is going to get hot first and them you burn it out.

Security Code for Protect mode

Turn on the car so the radio is flashing "Protect." Look on the front / removable face of the stereo. On it you will find a small round hole - that's a reset button. Find a small paper clip, unfold the clip and stick it gently into the hole. The "Protect" will stop flashing, and Kenwood will be displayed. Unfortunately all your settings/presets will be gone, but at least the stereo is working again!
