The other reviewer is close but not completely correct. For the Canon A510 The "date battery" is accessible under a small tab on the side of the camera near where you plug in the communication cable. (the access point is not inside the main battery compartment, nor is camera disassembly required). CR1220 is the correct battery for time/date retention. The instructions for how to do this are in the A510 manual, if your manual is the same issue as mine, you will find the instructions on pages 137-138. This is something you can do yourself, no need to take it to a repair shop.
