Back up whatever folders you have that don't want to loose on your computer. Your hard drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

Sorry I could not give better news.

Hi

what model computer is it ?

start up the computer press the F8 or F10 key to access your BIOS. Check for a loose hard drive interface or power cable first. Check the interface cable at the motherboard as well. When you power up the computer can you hear the hard drive spinning? If not you may have a faulty hard drive or a bad power supply, both of which could have caused the BSOD. Is all the other information in your BIOS correct? If not, you may need to replace the CMOS battery.

also go to this site and review the information -- it may give you cause and reason why the HDD is behaving this way

hope this helps

Asus k52f laptop says missing operating system after restore

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

When i boot up my laptop i am getting the error message, "operating system not found." Can you please give me advice on what to do to fix my laptop? Toshiba laptop and im scared i may lose the things

Your hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

You killed the hard drive. It needs to be replaced and you'll need a new operating system to go with it.

Bootable device not found message

If you didn't open up your computer and mess with it and it was working before then your hard drive probably just died on you.

Possibly a bad hard drive, if you have the recovery discs for the computer boot the computer with the disc in the drive and choose the option to repair the windows installation.

You are likely missing the drivers. If you really need to get it open, plug it in, find the drive, right click and select explore. This MIGHT work; i'm not entirely sure.

If you are receiving this error message after running the HP Recovery DVD and Operating System Disks, I would recommend testing your hard drive for physical errors. It is possible that coincidently your hard drive decided to give up at the time of reinstallation.

Download one of these Hard Drive diagnostic programs on another computer and run it on your unit.
