    Thank you.
My concern is that the dispenser was full of water. Not only "some water was left" . The softener has discharged ok.
Can you explain the mechanism of the system. Is softener extracted from succion or by other means ?
    Thanks for your answer

may need to completely remove dispenser and clean press tab down on left rear corner and pull out .water is sprayed in from holes over top of dispenser and flushes and some cases actually sets up a siphoning action

The dispenser slides out . There are plastic slideson both sides of the outer dispenser tray which run into grooves internally . be careful not to force its removal as you will damage the tray

The softner dispenser will not empty. then has bad smell.

if this is a front load washer you need to raise the top and check all the dispenser hoses for clogged, hardened fabric softener. if you only wash in warm or cold water, the hoses will get built up with soap and fabric softener. you need to do at least one load of hot every month to keep the hoses cleaned out, the hot water disolves it better. as for the smell you can buy a product called AFRESH and follow the directions on the package and routinely use one tablet every month for the odor. if there is a lot of water in the tub, you may have something caught in the impeller of the drain pump. hope this helps.

Softener tray filling with water

open the dispenser all the way, place your finger towards the back left of dispenser.you should see a tab, depress the tab and pull entire dispenser cup out.the bleach and fab soft part of the disp has a removable tray.clean all pieces out including the long shafts on the insert.you will more than likely find a build up of softener, this breaks the siphon and does not allow the water to drain out.good luck

Water Softner Dispense wont empty - Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 HE3t

I'm sure you heard a small motor running from time to time during a cycle. That moves an "arm" which sends water to the different chambers during a cycle. Fabric softener is dispensed when water goes to that chamber and dilutes the fabric softener. That chamber then empties by a siphoning action.
If you want to narrow down the problem a little to help trouble shoot -- put some wet rags in and run the Rinse and Spin cycle with some fabric softener. If the softener is not dispensed, then you know that the water isn't being sent to that chamber properly.
If you are intrepid enough to take the top off your washer, do that and see if the arm appears to be moving during a normal cycle. Maybe the arm got dislodged or broken during the move.
If water isn't being diverted properly, I think this calls for a real repair person.

believe it or not whirlpool says that's normal its in your owners manuel under dispenser because the washer mixes the bleach soap fabric softener with water for it to dispense they say its normal for water to remain but if you want to empty it there is a tab that you can press down on in the dispenser and remove it have a bowl handy
